Brake pads

You could always ask the dealer to fit the Prodrive disks (think they are about £140 each) and pay the price difference. I had my disks replaced under warranty but wasn't told about the Prodive ones! Worth asking a few dealers.

Geezer,
I was in the same situation as you about a month ago, car (MY94 WRX Wagon) went in for a service and was told that discs and pads on the front were totally trashed.
I had the choice of going for OEM pads and discs or uprated ones. the reason uprates ones were mentioned is that from what I was told the OEM parts would cost the same as, if not a little more than, the uprated pads and discs, so I decided to go for the uprated items.
I ended up with Wilwood cross drilled and vented discs and EBC Greenstuff pads, plus braided hoses.
It's seems to be a pretty good setup.
One thing of note is that the greenstuff pads should not used on trackdays, you should use Redstuff or above (yellowstuff?) this comes from EBC, so they should know.

After reporting some strange noises to my dealer when I took the car for its 15,000 mile service, they have informed me that the pads need replacing and the disks are knackered.
I can't really justify spending the money on uprated disks at the mo' but I want to put some better pads in, ones that will stand up to a track day possibly.
Suggestions please

Iain,
You said you had yours replaced under warranty. Did you have any trouble withthe claim? IM say they won't replace mine as it's wear and tear, but I'd certainly expect a set of disks to last more than 15k miles!
What was wrong with yours?
Geezer
