Default Newbie and first post

Hi to all on the site.
Don't have a Subaru yet but the deposit has been placed and delivery date for my new WRX STi is April 1st 2017.
Looking forward to the thing arriving and I'm counting down the days daily.
Cheers

That seems a very long time to wait for any car. Hope that April 1st is not significant.

142 days to go (but who's counting!)
I choose April 1st because that's when the new road tax rules come into force.
Also I would prefer not to get a new car in the middle of winter with the salt coated roads.
I tend to keep my cars for a while, I currently own a 1985 Porsche 911 (owned for 16 years), a 2004 BMW Z4 (owned for 8 years) and my daily
Ford Transit!!!! (for 7 years).
With the change in tax, fair enough I'll get stung in the first year but after that - paying £140/year was pretty appealing all in.
The countdown continues.
Cheers

Sound thinking, and a nice little collection! Are you adding the Subaru or substituting?

The Porsche has been laid up in the garage now for a fewyears after a constant misfire was finally traced to a broken head stud.
They don't have head gaskets and as a result, whenthe stud snapped it was losing compression on one cylinder.
I'm getting through rebuilding the motor but thanks tothe pound being worth buttons, it's on hold just now.
All my parts are bought in either Germany or Holland -but I'm in no rush with the thing.

The Z4 hasn't been on the road for a year, I take it off roadevery year whenever I spot the first gritter and
this year thanks to being busy, it's never been back roadlegal.

The Transit has never missed a beat - ever!!!!

Plan to keep using the van and use the Subaru now andagain - when I need cheering up!

Welcome! Keep us updated and put some pics up.

So the 1985 911 will still be an air-cooled Porsche then? Cool.

I've got a 1963 VW beetle in the garage with a tuned 1641 on big twin carbs. Gotta love it!

That looks lovely. I had a chance to buy one of these years ago and wish I had done, worth so much now. Looks in great condition. Very jealous!

That looks in lovely condition, well worth fixing. Is it a Turbo body? I sold my 996 Turbo 3 years ago and regretted it when the new owner was barely 50 yards up the road. Since then the price of them has gone through the roof. Still regretting!

When I get some time - I'll get cracking on with the 911.
I've already stripped the thing to the shell approx 2003 for a nut/bolt restoration - thing ran and looked superb and the noise!
Exhaust is off an 1972 911 RS with matched length headers and a straight through 2 in 2 out silencer.
Admit I miss the way the thing spits flames out the exhaust when going for it!
It will never be sold though so I've no idea what it's worth.
Cheers.
