Default Oil Temperature - what's good/bad/ugly?

Had this on my mind for a while as I'm yet to find a temp range that people agree on.

My Type R is the following
2.5 Forged short block with newage wrx ported heads
Stock V9 oil pump
Stock Oil modine/cooler etc
Millers CFS 10w50 + gen filter

At the moment I currently see 85-90 degree oil temps (via sensor above cylinder 3) under normal driving conditions, 10 mins of short bursts/spirited driving will see 100-110 degrees.

The Millers site quotes the following
"Use for competition, modified and high performance engines. Suitable for all normally aspirated and turbo-charged engines from 2 litres upwards. CFS 10w50 is especially suited to modified, high performance vehicles, with or without turbochargers, for fast road and track day use. Suitable for operating at 125°C with peak temperatures up to 150°C."

With this in mind, should I be concerned if my temps head towards 120 degrees? I've set my toucan warning at 115. While I like to enjoy the car, I dont drive on the ragged edge everywhere and have rarely seen 100+ degrees on it. I've heard of people seeing 125 degrees before a bottom end so I'd like to know what people feel is a safe limit.

I know this is possibly going to be a thread with a variety of opinions, similar to the "what oil should I put in" posts so I'm prepared for some diversity.

Your oil temps are the same as mine, 90ish normal, 100-110, spirited, I have a GB270.

I say 110 as its the highest I've ever seen. If I was to continue further I'm not sure what I'd peak at but have mechanical sympathy so once I start seeing 100+ I tend to ease off til it returns to mid 90's.

Mine sits at between 80-95deg. Highest I've seen it is 105 which was on a hot day in motorway traffic.

Extremely subjective oil temps...aftermarket/bigger turbos heat everything up a lot quicker than a VF etc...

120-130 then you need a oil cooler, otherwise don't worry

The block under the turbo, Cyl 3....where it should be mate but like I said it all depends if it's a bigger turbo and big power as this makes the oil hotter quicker with prolonged use, I'm still on a standard turbo

LM450 Hawk here. On a hot day at Curborough I was up to 120 within two laps. Similar within 15 mins on a hillclimb in Spain. Oil cooler now fitted. Personally would not be comfortable going above 120 for any length of time, and would change the oil right after.

Yep that's what I'd say, happens with a lot of higher power cars, I know a few lads running 450+ and same story

your temps look spot on for a standard let alone tuned scoob-during the cooler months when the ambient temp are 10-15 degrees cooler you.ll probably only see only see 100
degrees-if you fit a cooler dont forget to get a thermostatic plate to stop overcooling and wrap the lines where they cross the headers- the cooler will hold an extra litre or so and the dipstick will show an inch or so higher on the dipstick, sounds like a good spec car that

I rarely saw over 100 on my vf35,

Now with sc42 sits around 90-95 on cruise, can see 110 pretty quickly when going for it,

One of the cheapest mods to bring your oil temps down is a mishimoto racing thermosta works very well...

I was advised 110 was about as hot as you want and that's about where I set my Defi alarm. Never had any issues. I think it got to about 110 after some spirited driving in Germany with some other scoobs in August temperatures, no higher though.

Measured on cylinder 3.
