Default V-power racing fuel

I've just moved to germany with work and have took my blob widetrack with me

I foolishly but Dutch v-power in it yesterday and it felt sluggish to say the least! (it's 95 ron) i didn't notice until later on that it was 95

However I've found a shell garage close to me that does v power 100 racing, will I be ok running it on that? I always use 99 back in the UK

I know there is loads of threads on v power but they are all old and want to stay up to date cheers

Chris

well its 100RON so it'll be better than 99

also your Dutch gear is now 97/98 RON according to wiki

Super 100 being higher RON has higher resistance to knock

Vpower 100 will be fine but you may get issues with the Aral 102 if your car is not mapped from factory standard. I had mine mapped by Bob Rawle on vpower 100 and when Aral brought out 102 I started using that and the car did not like it.

I am prepared to be told this is all BS and your car will be fine but I am only telling you what happened to me. I had a tweak made to the map and verything was fine.

Wurzel i doubt that was the problem, running fuel with a couple of octane up,it's usually that if the octane in the fuel that you are using is less then what it was mapped for then you will definitely get problems. But a couple of raised octane is nothing too drastic i should think.SJ.

And I rest my case.

Everyone seems to know better than me what happened when I put 102 ron fuel in my car running an STi 6 engine and Simtek ECU.

only thing could be if it was old fuel which degrades over time? but if Aral had only brought it out then i assume itd have been fresh

Wurzel i am not telling you what happened to your car,as really only you would know how your car felt to you,BUT... by that reasoning if i was to say put a bottle of a quality Octane booster like Nitros formula in my fuel tank i would have to get my map adjusted to suit as the added 2 or 3 octane to my fuel count will have an adverse effect on my map,its not really how it works mate.SJ.

heard several people say their knock link went nuts on the 102 they serve up at Adenau near the ring so I'd stick with the 100 personally.

A friend contacted me yesterday and said his car was a bit hoppy on that 102 also,it must be their additives that they put in their fuel.SJ.

I have always stuck the German V power in and given the 102 a miss.
My car has run on UK and German V power and has never had a problem with fuel.

My bugeye has been mapped for UK VPower and it seems to love the Aral 102 from Adenau. Although its a standard ECU and i've got no separate knock detection. Probably average 2 or 3 tank fulls from there per Ring trip and been going 7 years with no issues whatsoever.

Also had no problems with the VPower Racing 100.
