Default Recommendations for mot garage?

Hi all.
My mot is due next month and the garage I have been taking my car to for the last 12 years is now gone as the owner has now retired. He is a good friend of mine and always looked after my pride and joy including servicing/repairs and mot's. Im now looking to take it to a professional garage who will treat it in the same way as my friend has been, and will also be able to test the brakes the "proper" way for an AWD car.

Any ideas as to where I could take it? Im located in widnes which is between Liverpool and Warrington.

Cheers.

Find a Independent MOT tester, if your car is in good order it will pass, they arent looking for work like a garage "may",

re brakes hasnt this been done before and found that it doesnt make a bit of difference if it was on a roller for AWD or on the road, I prefer the car to stay at the station then get taken for a run where anything "could" happen, it only takes a nutter delivery driver to run into your car and you have more worries.

Can't think of any reason why you shouldn't be allowed to go on the test run as a passenger?

I really don't want to put it on the rollers as ints never been on them in all the years I've taken it to my friends garage, he always done the brake test out on the roads. Also I remember him telling me years ago that it CANNOT go on rollers because it causes transmission wind up.

Is there any subaru specialists around that do mot's??? Or any performance orientated garages that wont look at it as a toy to play with?

I'm sure you'll find one closer but Anglesey MOT centre in Llangefni is good Taken JDM stuff there with no problems.

I've always used Prestige and Performance in St Helens for my MOT's on Imprezas and all other cars I've had. They test the brakes properly, are very thorough and professional. They used to import a few years back so know the score.

Here's their details, the MOT part is called Three Way but it's joined onto Prestige and Performance, part of the same company.

Cheers Ayde, I'll check em out. I've just had a look around and found that the public can use council mot test station's too. Supposedly they are cheaper and have no incentive to find faults as they don't do repair work. Anybody ever used em?
