GB270 or 2.0 WRX wide track UK Type
Hi,
Total brand new to Scoobys. I have a Merc Cosworth and its nice but fancy adding a Scooby to the garage. (Having always hankered after one, so why not)
Looking at a GB270 (2007), now seen all the horror stories in regards the 2.5 vs the 2L.
Whats the script?
Have also seen a very nice Subaru Impreza 2.0 WRX STi Type UK 4dr Wide Track UK WRX STI
Now whats the advice on this. Don't want to buy something then have to rebuild engine with new pistons etc.
Just want a car that me and my little lad can have a laugh with. its him thats pushing the purchase, which is adding to my excuse to why not son. Goes better with the wife if i can blame the lad...
Thanks
Martin

100% the Widetrack. I am a great believer in the 2.5, it's a brilliant engine IMO, but, having owned 2 hawk STi's, I constantly had one eye on the temp gauge. I work in a Subaru Specialist on weekends and we had a hatch STi in today with bottom end failure......I'm glad I have a JDM 2.0 now

Fire away mate, what is it that you're unsure about / what terms you haven't heard before? That car will be VERY loud with the nur spec decat so if you're after a quiet car, that might not be the right choice lol

Well....
About most of the advert ha.
Know re-map, but is it a know re-mapper?
Blitz Nurspec Exhaust System with Decat Downpipe, ECUTEK Re-map carried out by Neil at Slowboy Racing, up-rated fuel pump, Sti top mount intercooler.
Turbo rebuilt, good i presume, decent company?
So how loud is loud, pass an MOT? Get stopped by VOSA. Mind clipped one in my landrover, **** jumped out in front of me from behind a truck, lucky i only hit him with wing mirror and not full on!!

It will be totally mental indeed you need to have deaf neighbours or potheads who don't care lol!! Ultimate scooby rumble but you will like the more subtle milltek system bout £300 second hand very freindly so you could change that anyway your own little project

Sounds bitter but i always congratulate anybody on a new car, tatty first set of wheels or a life ambition fulfilled. "Hey well done there, well done indeed, congratulations".
You know what i mean.
Ok so probably need that mod you mentioned haha. Otherwise it might scare the horses.

Hurst cars always get good reviews and that car looks like a good one at an ok price
map = ecu stettings for boost/fuel pressure/injector duty cycle, for different loads and RPM's
remap = altering the standard, generic map for better BHP and normally better MPG too
mapper = the person remapping the car
tweek = minor adjustments to your map for minor mods (different air filter, fuel pump, intercooler), usually a nominal cost (£50ish)
Neil at slowboy is a decent mapper, ecutec is a worldwide company. ecutec remaps consist of £200 + vat for the licence and £350 for an ecutec trained/approved mapper to remap your ecu. ecutec have years of R and D in this field, so you know you will have a good map. The other form of remap is called 'open source', it consists of a mapper altering your map for better results. Some mappers are very good, others are terrible and I wouldn't let them remap my satnav! Some adjust the setting to suit your car to get the best results, others just use maps that can be obtained off the net for free and hope they work ok on your car
370bhp and a Nur spec sounds like a fun car
