Default Would you buy a 2008 Sti Hatch

Hi All

I'm thinking of buying 2008 Sti Hatch.
It has a freshly fully forged engine in it at 46k miles.
Not sure if it's still on the standard Subaru map or remapped for more
Power for it forged engine, the car looks very clean and tidy in the pictures.
It had a gasket failure so it was fully forged with Steel gaskets to Prevent any further problems.
It totally standard car other than the engine, silver in colour.
Would it be a good buy? Is there anything else I should look out for when checking the car over?

Thanks in advance.

One of the first threads that would actually warrent your comments , and you aren't going to ? (Well , you kind of have).

OP , i personally think it's too much , but it has been forged which is a bonus. Find out who did the work , and what exactly was done. Then compare prices to others.

Does it have receipt etc for the build?

Who did the build?

You are unsure about the mapping, as it been done?

£14 k is a bit much.

To give you an idea on price, I got mine valued this weekend as I might need to change and it was valued at 9k for trade in with a performance dealer. It's an 08STi, 73k (11k on new engine) forged and mapped. All the paperwork is present.

I reckon they'd aim to sell it on at about 12-13K.

Are you quoting in GBP or Euros? (I notice your listed as Ireland)If it's euros then it's not too bad a price.

Back to the engine, it'll need to have been mapped or it won't be very happy with the change in compression ratio in the long term. If the head gasket went then make sure that the bottom end also got sorted as they have a habit of letting go after a H/G failure (on all scoobs, not just hatches)

Hi Guys
thanks for the replys.

its a Irish car with usual sti bits also has keyless entry, button start and Recaro seats. (not sure if these are on Uk spec)?

Engine built by Ali Burrows Motorsport N.Ireland (highly Respected in Ireland)

All New Uprated parts used:

Block skimmed and bored, Heads skimmed
Crank, rods, pistons, rings, race bearing, head bolts, steel gaskets, oil pump
oil modine and new timing belt kit (tensioners and upgrade Tbelt.
Only run in miles on engine with about 46k miles on car.
Loads of paperwork and receipts with car.

The engine is running standard subaru map but if i buy i will get it mapped by Duncun Granham from Race Dynamics when he comes back over.
Live road mapping -- opinions on road mapping?

Car is price at £14k but said the room on price. i will try for £13k or less.

What ye guys thinks? if got for £13 or less be okay?

Thanks again.

Mine was a standard rebuild. I probably paid too much for the car but I like it and it came with a fresh service mot and 12 months breakdown cover and 12 months rac warranty .

Front splitter, and get some red overlays for the rear lights. Mudflaps and a zunsport black lower grille for starters.

HI Chris
Love the color of yours. Not 100% on the silver but the engine should be built proof. Will have to think hard over the weekend. What type of front splitter will you put on yours? Red overlays for lights any link to these? I'm going from classic typeR so will take a while to adjust to new shape. I really liked the pillarless doors on the classic. But time for a change.

Gonna get the splitter from scooby world . Someone on here can get the overlays , if not from USA . I'll screw it up putting them on tho.

Thanks again.
Didn't think these were on option on the std sti. They came fitted on the 330s.
