Guys can we keep this on topic please.
I am torn between a blob spec C type RA and a hawk RA-R. The RA-R is considerably more expensive but obviously has some serious kit on it. I'm weighing up whether the extra kit / exclusitivity is worth the premium over the blob type RA.

Spec c - tin bath.
Does the RA-R have all the sound deadening removed as well?
IF you're going to drive this daily, are you sure you want to go down that route?

that said the money in these cars is in the originality and if you bought an ra r and kept it standard and clean i doubt you would lose any money and possibly even gain some in a few years.

Copied
RA-R has :
- fully blueprinted, hand built engine (balanced and matched internals)
- VF42 turbo
- 6 pot Brembo front calipers, larger crescent grooved discs all round
- GrpN spec STI turbo inlet pipe
- unique 18" STI alloys in white (unique being 53mm offset, 18 x 8.5)
- different rear spoiler
- lower front strut brace
- 22mm rear ARB
Both cars have the uprated STI suspension parts - adjustable dampers, rose jointed rear lateral arms, rose jointed trailing arms, STI back box. Type RA also has an uprated rear ARB, but is 21mm in diameter.
It is better, how you perceive that in extra pounds and pence is individual choice

Thanks for the info / opinions lads.
The car will be purely for weekends with the odd trip out during the week. I'm really torn on this. It's not as if either isn't exclusive aswell, you never see either of them on the roads. I think it may come down to future residuals, and even then, both will hold their value pretty well.

If so go for it

I think the RA-R's will appreciate nicely soon. Definitely a car I'd consider buying. I'd want to stick STi skirts on it though which might be viewed as sacrilege?

Great info as always lads cheers.
I have decided on the RA. For me, the huge extra cost doesn't justify the RA-R, for me anyway. Unless you're tracking the car every weekend and every single second counts, the extras for a novice driver like me won't come into play, whereas the RA, albeit hugely driver focused aswell, is more at my 'level' (I use that term VERY loosely ) As mentioned above, a few choice handling and braking mods, combined with a decent map would see it probably trump the RA-R anyway and I'd still have enough for a cup of coffee on the way home.
I do have to say though, for anyone reading this, that the difference between a standard JDM STi and a type RA is HUGE. I have owned a standard non-widetrack JDM blob STi and, although a solid car, I didn't particularly enjoy it. However, after driving the RA, I can whole-heartedly say that the difference is night and day.
