Bought these off eBay , never usually have issues but this time the tyres have damage , I'm saying no good for use , thoughts ?

If that damage wasn't mentioned in the description then either send them back or if you are happy to use them try and get some money back

 

Bit of a grey area really. Tbh they are not that bad to affect use but depends how much you paid and the description and how it was worded.

I've used tyres in similar state and had no issues at all. I would go for some money back if you can.

 

You don't really want to be taking a risk with tyres, unless you're a city-only driver...

 

Could always get them checked from a tyre specialist if unsure. Then you got what you need to fight your case!

I paid £145 delivered , they are Bridgestone potenza s001 tyres

I'm trying to sort return but having issues who pays for return

If I were to ask partial refund what round be adequate you reckon ? Still not sure if safe to use tho , a tyre shop will say they are dunked surely and try and sell me new ones I reckon lol

 

The sidewall damage should be an MOT fail.

If the damage wasn't stated, they have been mis-sold. If the seller wants the tyres back, they pay for the postage. If you had bought them and changed your mind, you would pay postage

I wouldn't use them, send them back and buy some undamaged ones

If you used them and had a blow out and wrote your car off, you would be kicking yourself for taking the risk

 

full refund inc postage due to goods being damaged.

Dont even contemplate part refund etc

 

if you can't see chords i thought the sidewall damage would pass,

Only fail if chords show or weakened visually such as a bulge

Not an M.O.T tester but must be one who can confirm

 

Sorry, Depends on size of cut in relation to width of tyre.




Important part is " DEEP ENOUGH TO REACH PLY OR CHORDS "

 

I'm a tester and it's not a fail unless the cut exposes ply or chords. I'd certainly advise on it as any such damage can weaken the tyre structure, and I would not put that tyre on any high performance car.

Saying that though, I've got 1 tire with a slight notch of rubber hanging like that but I've had no issues at all over the last 2 months
