Default Subaru Recall!

The previous owner of my car kindly let me know about the letter he received from Subaru regarding the following recall.

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/n...call/index.htm

Is everyone aware of this and/or hasn't heard? If not, then it seems it's vital the car is recalled as soon as possible.

I think most owners are aware. I have registered with my closest dealers and there are about 20 cars in front of me, the dealers said that they are only receiving a couple of air bag replacements per month. So could be about a year before my car is done.

This is a new recall bud, just seeing if anyone has anything helpful to say about it. Like the comment after yours

That is retarded in my opinion. Subaru themselves have basically said it's life threatening but then they seem lazy in getting parts in? Boggles my mind!

It's not a new recall it has been out since June 2015.

The problem has been supply of replacement parts due to the size of the recall.

From your link.......................
Vehicles made by 14 different automakers have been recalled.

Also it's pointless linking to a Subaru of America recall site................

No it's not, air bag recall was middle of last year.
Europa Subaru in Sheffield are only allocated 1 a month.
I was lucky, when I phoned up there was no one waiting, they said I would be next, I phoned up each week until they got one in, but when one came in they allocated it to someone else that had phoned up the previous morning In total I had to wait 3 months, but had mine done in January this year. While I was waiting I asked how many others people are in the queue, they said there had been numerous enquiries and the waiting list was 14 months!!!!!

I've wondered for a while now, would a half decent lawyer be able to to put in a claim for restricted use of the vehicle (4 seats instead of 5) until the airbag is replaced? just a thought,I bet the airbags would appear like magic

I phoned Monza sport to discuss my recall, said I'd be added to the list. Waiting about 2 months but had it done now. They charged Subaru £640 for it!

Had mine done Monday, ducked out of work for an hour, quick fix and only had to wait a couple of months from the date I first got in touch with the dealer.

I was told the issue with part allocation is the number of vehicles worldwide affected, Not just Subaru and the Impreza but several other makes and models, so can see the reason behind the delay.

They’re useless *****. I’m still fuming about the lower arm recall, their attitude towards that one was **** poor if you ask me.

Had a letter in the post middle of last year. Booked in with my local dealer (Keith Price Subaru Abergavenny) a few weeks later at my earliest convenience. Job took about an hour, technician even came out of the workshop to show me the old canister and explain everything. Happy how mine went, didn't chase or ring anyone up about it either

Ive had 3 recall letters in the last 18 months, the last one falling on the door mat earlier in the wk, been on the phone to my nearest main dealer after every letter and keep being told the same thing every time, theres a waiting list as long as your arm because they only get in the airbags a few at a time, next to bloody hopeless if you ask me!

Given the size and increasing expansion of the recall world wide it's not surprising the limited UK market only gets a few at a time..........

Having received three letters have you enquired with Subaru UK if you are actually on the "waiting list". Seems strange that they would fire off multiple letters if you were.

had no letter yet, but there is a recall on the lower air pump relay that effects the 2008+ cars.

Rang my dealer who said when do i want to bring it in... said I'll have it done on next service at the end of the year

I got this recall letter a couple of weeks ago. Called the dealer last Friday, dropped the car off Monday night & the job was done by 10 am Tuesday. Can't fault my local dealer.

Have finally got mine booked in for air bag recall, got messed about by a long standing dealership a good few miles away so tried a new dealership(only been subaru for a few months) and much closer to me as well, going in next thursdayStill confused about the lower arm recall tho, with my hawk being a WRX i thought it would have the steele lower arms but subaru uk are saying it has the alloy arms fitted so doesn't require a recall, i thought STI's had the alloy lower arms not the WRX model

Sounds like a smart move to try another Dealer

An 06 Hawk WRX saloon has alloy front control arms, the wagon does not. Easy enough to check - just turn your steering wheel one way or the othe to full lock and visually examine.

Cheers Don i was hoping u'd have the answer being the very knowledgeable chap you are with all things subaru i didn't fancy jacking the car up in this weather for a look lol and wasn't sure if the lower arms would be visible on full lock, regarding the air bag recall this new dealership were most helpful compared to the other lot rang them last thurs and gave them my details, reg plate/chassis number and they phoned me back 2day as promised with a date for next wk, should be in and out in an hr tops they said
