Default Newbie STi Type Uk

Hi All

Great to back in the seat of the STi after a few years without one.

Picked up a 05 plate STi Type UK PPP 305 BHP model yesterday in very good condition and only 53k miles on the clock.

Ps think it already has the dreaded clunking noise from the rear at really low speed almost stopping, I take it it's the struts on there way outs!

Regards

Russ

Well let's see it then! And that low speed clunk as it settles is pretty common.

3 owners, last owner for last 7 years.

54k miles very clean indeed.

Pretty standard apart from the Prodrive performance pack.

That's good. Keep miles low but have plenty of fun on the weekend. Think you enjoy it more that way.

Saw this up for sale. I won't ask how much, but did the dealer let you knock much off the price? Nice car btw

No it only went up for sale on Saturday evening and I put a deposit on it straight away, by the time I got to view it on Tuesday he had over 20 enquiries for the car !! Managed some road tax but was happy with the price given its only got 54k miles and the previous owner who I spoke to last night to varify all the history had the car for the last 7 years.

The only thing I may get done for my own piece of mind is the Cambelt, as this was done at 36000 miles but was some 5 years ago but has only done 18000 miles in that 5 years !! Should I get it done do you think ???

it's worth getting it done for peace of mind, when I bought mine the Subaru dealer said they checked with the garage on the service book who said they had done it and they confirmed they had, I rang them myself to double check and they said they can't check anything without an invoice number, so I bit the bullet and got it changed anyway, it had been done but the belt was a blue print belt and had started to fray so good thing I did get it changed.

Who? Never erd' of em'

Nice example mate, looks tidy!

How were 'revitupuk' in general? Did you see any of the other cars there? I have often considered buying from them but it would a very long wasted journey if it wasn't up to much.

Good man, at least getting it done for peace of mind. My one is 2006 Widetrack STI as well, in black, great cars. I get the clunk as well so it's normal.

Alan Jefferies is an Engine Tuner based in Plymouth been there for over 20 years and his main car he works on is the Subsru Impreza, rolling roads, maps etc...

Revitupuk is a delight to visit as Mark always has 40 plus cars in stock, I travelled a 540 mile round trip to get the STi which had only been on his website from 4.00pm Sat afternoon, having purchased before I didn't even question the cars condition as his cars are mint, I paid an instant deposit on Sat night to secure the car and by the time I picked it up on Tuesday he had over 20 inquiries about the car..... He sells over 20 cars a week and the thing I love is that his customer communication by phone or email is spot on quick and efficient, and he drives a McLaren MP4 so business is booming.

Most people on here buy there kits from ICP, you can find cheaper on ebay but i wouldn't touch the none branded stuff. I think one of those kits will fit yours, best to message them with your reg.

Just get someone who knows what they're doing to fit it. I got a local mechanic who "had done them before" 8 months later, the belt was ripped, wrapped around the pulleys and skipped 5 teeth.

I was beyond lucky and the valves weren't bent or anything and I got a proper Subaru garage to fit the new one. They said they've never seen anything so lucky before!
