Default Forester sti

Hi looking to get back into a Subaru again sold my jdm blobeye a few years ago I've got the chance of a forester sti but looking to know if the 2.5 engine is the same as the ones that are going bang any info would be great

In theory, yes. Very similar. But there have been far less with issues in reality. The majority of 2.5 engine failures are down to the way the cylinder heads were torqued (or incorrectly torqued) at the factory. This doesn't seem to be an issue with the slightly earlier forester engine.

I have a Hawkeye Impreza and a forester STI. Lovely cars!

The FSTi runs the early EJ255 (WRX) based engine and has proved to be very reliable at higher power setups (although some have managed to go mad).
