2006 Blobeye Tax
Evening All,
I'm currently on the hunt for a new scoob, now that my finances have settled after buying our first home.
Have been looking at the Widetrack Blobs as they fall into the lower tax bracket before the switch to hawkeye.
Now, the one I'm going to look at tomorrow was registered late March 2006, presumably one of the very last blob-eyes but falls into the £500p/y bracket.
Would it be possible to phone the DVLA and contest the tax rate as it's exactly the same car as one registered in Jan-Feb 2006.
Keen to hear your thoughts.

My mate had the same problem but in reverse He owned a JDM hawk STi that was £120 a year road tax, he phoned the DVLA to tell them that the tax was cheap for this model and will he have to pay in the future more tax, or a chance it would be changed, and they basically laughed at him and said if its £120 a year then there is nothing they can do!!

By all means try and let us know, I'd be interested as it's pants down for me at the end of this month.
07 Hawk STi. It's so expensive that it's something I have to budget for.....so no new rear suspension for me for a while!
I can't see them backing down, cut offs are cut offs but it's a prime example of how our government rob people.....and provide us with nice potholes as a thank you.
Lets not forget how much money they are saving by now not even supplying a tax disc and posting it out.....DVLA 1 Motorist 0

You're all off your head. Not for one single second will they ever entertain it.
I wouldn't even waste your time as the rules are the cut off and the computer will not physically let them change it. Even if they did think about helping you lol

Lol good luck, i reshelled (into a brand new shell)a sierra cosworth many years ago and they put ford escort on the docs, spent years trying to get it changed, you have no chance getting them to reduce a tax band. Buy a jdm if you want to pay sensible tax and its a far better car.

I wouldent waste your money on the phone call mate, not even worth it.
I pay mine monthly (hawk STi), works out about £40 a month. A small price to pay for something that brings me so much enjoyment IMO.

I do exactly the same on mine although it isn't a hawk its a 56 plate blob. As long as its a good scoob the tax price wouldn't fuss me tbh

Thanks for the input guys. At least I've gone into it with my eyes open! Put the deposit down today and going back down to fetch tomorrow! Absolute minter. Must be one of the very last blobs. Registered on the 31st March 2006.
In the same boat as you Soup.

No matter what you do, it's not going to change I'm afraid. You've got more chance of Jade Goody hosting Top Gear than the DVLA changing the tax on your car.

The Hawkeye pollutes conciderably more and is in a higher tax band (244 c02 vs 219 for the 2.0) wrx figures
So even though you are being shafted because of the dumb 2006 law at least you have that and some extra torque for your 200 quid extra a year!
