So there's an arrest warrent out and UN says he has been "arbitrarily detained" and should get compensation.
WTF? are the UN deluded?

It's stupid, technically anyone in prison is having their human rights violated, this man is voluntarily incarcerating himself.
The UN is an outdated self-serving organisation with no power to do anything except "advise". It's original concept was to ensure world peace, but some it's into a bureaucratic political dictatorship and tries to tell its members how they should run their country. That we "should" do this and they "should" do that.
I could real off a huge list of genocide cases where the UN was totally ineffective, I really don't see the point of its existence in the modern world, especially when it has had zero effort in trying to tackle so called Daesh, instead it just tells us to do something about all the asylum seekers living rough in Calais whom have already travelled through more than several safe countries.
If I were in charge of the UK, I'd use the Assange case as a good reason that to withdraw all Our funding to it....we are one of the top five contributors of UN funding. The US is the main contributor...but it's funny how the UN doesn't acknowledge that the USA want him on espionage charges....

A;though given the costs of trying to arrest him i suspect it would be better spent elsewhere

As I heard, he's not actually been charged in Sweden. Instead, they want him for questioning.
He was happy to be questioned in a neutral place, but the problem is the threat of being extradited to the US.
Put yourself in his shoes; no formal charges, and yet you've got the US waiting in the wings to execute you for telling the world all the dirty tricks the spies have been up to. We all know they would execute him if they got their hands on him, just to send a message to other people not to tell the world all the BS the US agencies have been up to.
Would you willingly put your neck into a noose?
I dont know about you, but I wouldnt.
Then, theres the small matter of whether or not you were actually guilty in the first place. No need for tin foil hats, but it does seem awfully coincidental that this would come out at a point in time that would allow the US to get their hands on him.
Simple question, but why havent the Swedish prosecutors simply interviewed him in the consulate? If all they want is to get his side of the story, why does that HAVE to happen in Sweden? All sorts of excuses from them as to why their prosecutors couldnt be present, holidays, new staff, etc.
