Guys, how much should I budget for a standard type r impreza? Ideally a v5/6
is there a price difference in a ltd and non ltd?

7-8k seems to be the going rate for a standard v5 in half decent condition at the minute. I've seen a few version 3's going for that but I am not sure they sold. A lot of the older ones have the dreaded rust starting to come through as well.
I saw a v4 around here that was mint 3 years ago. A combination if salt and horse crap seems to have rusted it out pretty badly. And it was still up for nearly 6k.

I have seen both Ltd and non Ltds go for same price which is interesting.
So I guess budget a healthy-ish 8500 for a v5 ltd ?
Torque GT said good WRC v6 VLtd are OTR for around 13k - gulp, going by that i may need to up budget even for a v5 maybe hmm
they also mentioned these are getting thin on the ground in Japan too

Problem is getting a 'decent' one in Japan is hard work. I have been looking closely for Type-R's and anything with around 80k Miles is going to stand you at around £7-£8k in the UK however the problem is getting a good one.
In the last Month or so I have seen quite a few go through and nearly ALL of them have had accident damage and I dont mean a little knock. Some have had rear quarters replaced / boot floors bent and all sorts yet people are still paying strong money for them. Same with Evo 6's and the like.
I sold my fresh Import V5 STi Type-R in white done 62k Miles around August for near £7k (just because I wasnt keen on white to be honest) but I couldnt replace it now for £7k..! If it came for sale again I would probably pay more than what I sold it for just to get it back.

I've been looking for a very nice V5 or V6 type R, preferably a Ltd for a few months and have not seen any for under £10k. I'm a bit picky but I haven't come across anything that's nice. There's only been 1 that I've seen in the jap auctions that's had decent mileage and a good grade. They certainly seem to be getting harder to come by and I think that a lot of people remember that a few years ago the classic imprezas were at rock bottom prices and seem suprised at the prices getting asked. I see them as them like mk1 escorts. When I was 17 every boy racer had a mk1 and I remember seeing a scruffy but honest twin cam for £200 and now I regret not buying one. I think good original imprezas, especially the two doors, are only going to go one way price wise.
