Just out of interest what's people's opinions on a JDM Hawk?

I know the Hawk is a better car (chassis, brakes etc) but personal opinions would be nice, I currently have a JDM Hawk but I'm currently deciding whether to change to a Type R? I only use it in the summer.

I have seen a few v5 type r's for around the 7.5k-8k mark but they are up around the 80000-90000 mile mark. Most will probably need a cambelt change as well.
For the same money you could get a similar year evo that is spec'd to around the 400bhp mark.

Why would you wanna buy a car that drives itself with all the electronics in it? Haha

I remember seeing a few years a go a steady supply of type R's are decent prices. But that must have been when they got to rock bottom

I have been thinking about a nice ltd v5 for a while but the cheapest v5 i have seen is at 8k which is a white no ltd. So it looks like 10k seems average for one then

Had a quick scoot on ebay gumtree and PH and as you guys are saying theyre getting a bit thin on the ground

They certainly seem to be getting harder to come by and I think that a lot of people remember that a few years ago the classic imprezas were at rock bottom prices and seem suprised at the prices getting asked. I see them as them like mk1 escorts. When I was 17 every boy racer had a mk1 and I remember seeing a scruffy but honest twin cam for £200 and now I regret not buying one. I think good original imprezas, especially the two doors, are only going to go one way price wise.
I remember my mate struggling for months to sell his modded mk2 for £600, it had quite a few RS parts on it too,(seats, front end and wheels) let it go for £400 in the end and was glad to shift it, sad thing is it was mint with a fresh paint job too, not as bad as my brother in law though, he turned an RS1600 he'd had from new into a kit car.

On the subjects of RS's, I come from a long line of them...The last Sapphire Cosworth I bought was in 2008 and was a white 2wd on an E plate for 3k - how much do you have to spend on one now

I had a mate that had a grey one, can't remember if it was 2 or 4wd but I really loved that car absolutely flew in it's day, so wanted to buy it off him but just didn't have the funds at the time, think he only wanted something like £4k, those and Cavalier turbos were another cracking stealth saloon that motored.

I had a flint grey 2wd too, a T35 powered one with a strong 370-400hp, sold for 4500!

A mate had a stunning 4x4 running similar power it was an immaculate fresh build and was known in the scene and that was top wack at 6k lol - brings tears to my eyes

I wouldn't mind travelling there if the right one came up but it's a long way from Cornwall if it turns out to be a rot box. They can send all the pics in the world but you can't see knackered gearboxes or smoking turbos in pictures.
We travelled to Wales a few years ago to look at a car. And without going into a rant. The owner's idea of mint an mine, differed vastly.
