The STI's don't seem to do so well for high miles, probably due to many owners ragging them and un-mapped bolt on mods.

If you can find a 1 or 2 owner car that's had regular oil changes, like every 3/5k and got no mods (make sure it's not just been put back to standard as many do) or just PPP then you'll probably be fine. Just make sure it's had a clutch as they seem to let go at around the 60 to 80k mark.

I ran a 2003 Blob STI. Bought it standard with 12K on the clock and sold it running 415bhp with 92K on the clock. Prove to be utterly reliable and engine never burned a drop of oil between the (frequent - every 4K or so) oil changes. I would say the key is very good mapping for any mods, and lots of regular oil changes

Mines at 83k, serviced every 4k miles in recent years, good condition with no problems, doesn't use oil. Standard PPP except for a Milltek cat back.
