I know that they were going the VW/Audi route , but they still sevice/maintain their loyal customer's cars (me been one ), Had a call today from Peter(owner ) to pick my P1 up.....He has sold the garage due to ill health ...shame really as he built that successful business up from scratch for a long time !
I for one will miss them

It is a shame, what a pity he didn't have someone in the family to pass on his years of experience and skills. End of an era almost by the sound of it

Autotecnica in Buxton aren't exactly a million miles away from Manchester and come with a great reputation which I can fully endorse from when I've used them in the past. If I end up living back in Mcr and back in an impreza I'll certainly be using them again.

Another big up for Auto technica, used them for an rb5 last year, quite a few bits missing from an engine rebuild gone wrong, anyway they sorted it, had a fair few spares in stock (they also break cars) so ended up being a very reasonably priced repair with no nonsense and bull along the way
Good bunch of lads and worth a try if you arent to far away

Another recommendation for Adgespeed here. Used to use Prosport years ago and was always really happy with their work but stopped after a bad experience and started using Adgespeed instead.
Hope Pete gets well soon.

There's also CAMS Performance in Blackburn and Steve Cotton at Cotton Comp, both popular in the Northwest.

Agree with both, these two companies are very good, also a good one in buxton that I was recommended to use by a guy from work. Don't take it to adgespeed heard they are breakers and don't know much abouts subarus technically.my mate has used him for a few things over the years and said he doesn't have a clue and charges for things that are not needed and that it's a part time garage that's hardly open

This certainly explains why I couldn't get Prosport on the phone...
I did speak to Adgespeed on the phone, but wasn't impressed. And apparently they need to shut for ten days because the boss is on holiday. Autotechnica sound next closest. All this is a bit complicated just to get an oil change and a (friendly) MoT. Any other recommendations for MoT garages near Manchester with a realistic attitude to emissions?

He's a top bloke and I'd have no problem taking my car to him
