Can only be a good thing IMO, especially if Subaru are going to persist with variants of that 2.5L engine. The current emissions/fuel consumption are crap for the performance, so making it a 'hybrid' should help life. That and if they're sensible about it then it could have some performance benefits too.

I wouldn't run my 05 as a daily due to fuel costs. Not that I can't afford it, but it is such a waste on the commute sitting in traffic, the money I save can be put to much better use.

If the new STi's are going to give similar performance (and hopefully traditional burble) with 40mpg then I might sell up my daily driver and current Impreza for a new model.

Lets hope they don't **** this one up..

TBH once I get over this scooby thing (not for a while yet ) I do like the idea of the Tesla, unfortunately at this time charging stations are a bit few and far between (and free to use by all accounts) also by my calculations it cost a little over £10 to charge the car at home giving a 300 mile range. Oh yeah the top of the range model is a 10 second car too

The (partial) upshot of the electric motors' max torque output at 'zero' revs (setting aside the rotor assemblies' weight and inertia, of course).

A bit "too little, too late" from Subaru, tbh that looks like a JDM car and not the eu/us model, and when Peugeot are debating whether to produce this... http://www.topgear.com/car-news/conc...h-308-r-hybrid it makes you think 36mpg and 326bhp isnt much...

Automated gearbox and lots of batteries to weigh it down; Its not exactly winning me over.

I'll pass, unless they make the kerb weight under 1200kg and give it three pedals
