I've spent 2+ hours today, trying to get through on the phone to their customer query line.

"All our operators are busy", blah-blah, blah...

I NEEDED to contact them TODAY - I need a cover note showing my new reg. no, to allow me to buy my Car Tax.

So, no joy - I know, try their website...

Wrong telephone number shown on the home page. Uh-oh. Eventually find a way of contacting them via an HTML form...after surviving their javascript errors!

Politely informed them of my query and asked for an urgent reply, as directed.

We'll see if I get one.

Just thought I'd phone again and hang on their queue seeing as their supposed to operate 9.00am till 9.00pm according to their website, might be less people using it now, after all...

Guess what?

"Sorry, all our lines are closed. Lines are open between 8.00am and 8.00pm on weekdays", blah, blah...

GET YOUR F*CKING ACTS TOGETHER!

You've just lost a lucrative bit of business , you bloody idiots.

I used to work in a call centre - I know it's not their fault. But I definitely think my business will be elsewhere come renewal time.

(Sheepish look... Rant over.)

I used Privilege last year and renewed again this Feb. for my Sport.
Signed the deal yesterday to pick-up an RB5 on Saturday....so Mega excited and counting down the hours.
Spoke to Privilege yesterday to arrange change of vehicle cover, advising them dealer needed new cover note to tax my new car. Was then advised cover note would leave Croyden today but may take up to 5 days to reach me!!!!Is the posty going to walk or something.....
I've currently got everything crossed in the hope the cover note arrives, otherwise I will be one very peeded off bunny.

Hi SQUIZZ m8

met you at the last meet, serves you right for having a posey plate

Seriously its about time companies started looking after the business they have rather than take your money and lose interest.

I'd be wary of Privilege anyway.

Got a decent quote from them a couple of months ago for my Scoob with minor mods (SS backbox, ITG panel filter, Cibies).

When the proposal form came through the only mod shown was a "whale tail spoiler - Cosworth type"...

When I queried this I was told that the guy who sold me the policy had basically 'lied' on my behalf and that I was not covered.

They also told me that he had since been sacked for his poor standard of work!

Not very reassuring from a major insurance company.

Are you sure you are not ringing the claims line by mistake as this has a very long queue (he says knowingly ) However I have found the quote/customer information line not too bad in that respect.

Not much use now, but they could of arranged a cover note through a broker that uses them! This would of cost you nothing, cost them nothing and the broker would of been willing to help.

If people get this problem, ask for their nearest affiliated broker to you.

Ronaldo H,

Fair comment, but with the greatest of respect, Privalege/Direct Line are direct outfits and do not use Brokers... ...

If a broker called me to see if I could assist with a covernote on his behalf, then yes I would...basically its all part of the service.

Only last week we had a client who was picking up a new Mercedes from Edinburgh...he advised 3 hours before picking it up!!! ...with the assistance of the insurer we located a local broker who assisted us...and got the covernote to the garage (that just happened to be round the corner from their office)...

As far as the existing Subaru Insuracne is concerned....keep your eyes open and ears to the ground... things could be a changing!!

Not just me, eh?

I shall be trying again today, and I'll let you all know what happens.

I'm just not feeling very "Privileged" by their level of servce.

Boost II - Yup, got the right number.

Jaz - Dude!

Rum* - If you've got something in the pipeline, I'd be interested to hear about it. My renewal is due mid-May !!

Cheers,
Squizz.

Rum - anything in the pipeline for modded UK cars (or just P1's and STI's)?

My Privilege renewal is due now so any info would help!

For the record they have always given me great service and covered me for many UK track days and the nurburgring at no additional cost.

Might be something in the pipeline...tho probably not going to happen until mid July...either way by then we will have something in place that will hopefully assist...sorry its not b4

Guess it depends what your renewal premium is...if you want to give us a call to discuss...either John or I would be more than happy to chat about it...

Rich R,

As above really...re the track days I think you'll find over the next couple of months that a charge is levied on Trackdays etc by most if not all companies...you only need to look at the Eggar Lawson scheme to see that unfortunately they tend to lose money...hence no doubt they will try and claw some of it back by charging

Cheers

Well, I've been using Privilege for many years and find them easy to contact, cheapest to quote and give Trackday cover - takes a few days to get insurance details sometimes but that's the only downside.

Rum, do you/will you have anything for Sti's ?

Right - Sorted.

After a couple of minutes hanging on, some poor operator with a stinking cold took my query and said they'd send out a cover note showing my new reg.no immediately.

I had intended to politely but firmly ask to speak to a line manager or supervisor, but as she answered my query promptly, and she was in such a state I thought I'd leave it.

(Altogether now... "Awwwwwwwwww...." )

I'll give them a good earbashing when they reply to my emailed query. Ha ha ha, yeah right!

Rum* - I'll be contacting you toward renewal time, just to see what's what. Cheers.

Best o' luck Peeps.

Cool

Trigger,

We are getting to the stage where we will quote for anything....tho at the minute on the scheme we are restricted to the minimum premium (i.e. for the very best details!! ) £950.00.

However we are working on new markets all the time....with new options...internet quotes system...etc etc...if in doubt...drop John a line at the above email address...if we can't help we will have at least tried...

Cheers

Subaru Insurance is not handled by Privilege anymore. My renewal quote states that the policy is now underwritten by UK Insurance whereas before it stated Privilege. When you now ring Privilege with respect to specific Subaru insurance you are passed over to them rather than Privilege now dealing with the query.

The fun part now comes when you want to get through to Customer Services to get proof of no claims bonus on cancelling or moving insurance to another company. The quote line and renewal call centre operators can not generate this important document, only Customer Services. I was on hold for 30 minutes on Friday, and 65 minutes yesterday.

"All our operators are currently engaged. Please hold and your call will be answered shortly."

One other thing to note, my renewal came through in the post on the 24th April...my insurance ran out at mid day on the 24th!

I got my insurance for my new WRX MY01 so that i could pick the car up and the dealer could tax it. Adrian Flux failed to get me a cover note despite having 2 weeks to do so and several desperate phone calls to 3 different people saying one had been sent. I ended up 5 days without the car until they sorted it out!

I hate insurers!

I use Privilege (part of Direct Line)

I've made 2 own-fault claims in the last 3 yrs.

They paid up promptly, without fuss, and supplied a courtesy car 9am the next day.

And my premium went down from £1200 -> £800 this year.

Top service IMO.

TRIGGER,

When was the last time you checked that privilege have track day cover on their policies.

I rang them two days ago and was told 'we don't cover that anymore'

I'm now looking at transfering my policy to an insurer that actually includes track day cover on the policy, but its going to cost me an extract £150 a year. Works out cheaper than paying for specialist cover at each track day though ...

AndrewW,
I got a letter at renewal at the start of this year, to say I was covered. I am rather pi55ed off if this is now not valid and all nice comments about Privilege can be reversed. But I will check the situation. If you get a policy though and they advertise you are covered for Trackdays can they stop that cover mid year ?

But Gary,

Even if I were to get specific track day insurance on the day, and then I had a crash, surely I would have to declare this to my primary, everyday, insurance company.

Also, protected NCB will at least stop the loss of NCB (although obviously not the increase in base premium :mad .

TRIGGER,

I'd be very interested if you were to ring Privilege and see if your trackday cover is still valid. Let us know how you get on.

Andrew.

Hi all,

I have just insured my STI V with Tesco's at a very resonable £600, although I have to now go and install a Tracking device. Bell Direct did not require a Tracker, however their quote wad £1030 and would be NO different if I had a Tracker installed!! Adrain Flux was a waste of time for me (£995 with tracker). Privilege was the next best at £686.

I am 33, have full NCB and clean licence. I also volunteered an excess of £1000.....bit risky I know but it brough the prices down a lot (£400) for both Tesco's and Privilege. Maybe worth a thought and if you want to bring premiums down.

You all drive safely now scoob fans,
Regards,
stiVman

Priviledge are IMHO a good bunch of people. I had my STI5 TypeR V-ltd insured with them for just under a grand with a 600 quid excess.

I then changed cars twice last year, and they didn't charge me. At renewal, on my new(ish) 330D Sport values at 27K, they quoted me the lowest price at 686, plus the legal protection cover. Came to 703 total. Next closest was over 950.

Sorry Squizz, but I'm a happy customer

Matt
