Default Richard Burns

For those of you old enough to remember when there were proper cars rallying in the WRC it is 14 years today that Richard Burns won the World Rally championship 25/11/01 . Sadly it is also the anniversary of his passing away 25/11/05. RIP.

I'm 23 and remember watching proper rallying with the likes of McRae and Burns etc with proper cars. R.I.P such a shame to loose both of them but also the sport as it just isn't what it used to be.

Can't believe it's 10 years.
I helped organize 'Remembering Richard' 5 years ago for the 5th anniversary of his passing

I used to love the lombard and even network q rally as a nipper. As a 12year old in 1993 i remember hearing an impreza barking through sutton park. Good times and good rallying. Much better than wales rally gb in my opinion.

Hi,
Never forget the event at Castle Coombe just before Richard died. They did a parade around the circuit with various drivers driving his old rally cars. Richard was a passenger in a black X5 in the parade.
All his cars were lined up on display before and after the parade. Had a long chat with Richards father - really nice guy.
I was lucky enough to have a press pass - so had good access for photos at the whole event.
Also attended a press conference with the McCrae brothers at the event (if I remember correctly there was an announcement about driving for Skoda next season as well as other general discussions).
There was also the Evo 10 prototype being driven round the circuit.
For a rally fan - it was one of the best events I have ever attended.
Sad to think Richard and Colin are no longer with us. RIP
