Default Will a 95 ra take a 96 ra gearbox?

Ive recently bought a 1995 type ra. The front diff seems to have lost a tooth and im looking for a temporary replacement gearbox. Someone on here has a 96 box at the correct 3.9 ratio. Im looking for some knowledge on whether or not they could be a match. I can then repair the original and swap them back if needed once I get it fixed. The car doesn't have DCCD. Cheers.

yes, dccd is not an issue, if you don't have the dccd controller it won't do anything, in fact any 5 speed gearbox will work provided you have the correct ratio front and rear diff.

Does it make any difference if the replacement box was from a car with dccd?

Yip as the diff will be in open so be more biased to the rear

If its a temp fix just chuck an old UK turbo box and diff in it while you repair your original.
You can pick up an old UK box and diff for peanuts

Instead of torturing yourself get your gearbox code get another box with the correct diff and either fit the box or swap the diff. There simple to work on. Once apart all will become obvious

If it were me I'd be fitting the DCCD box to the car for good. If you buy that box and diff you'd just need the scroll wheel, control unit and the clocks if you wanted it to be OE. Definitely transforms the car having DCCD adjustability.

Low ratio six speed is the way forward. I used a UK box and diff in mine while I saved the pennies. TBH there was no issue with the UK box, it was much easier to live with.
