Hairpin bend - Instructions
Whilst in third gear apply medium to hard braking with foot brake.
Turn in to the corner whilst still braking.
Engage clutch.
Select first.
Apply throttle smoothly.
Sounds good in practice -
Impreza boy's style.
Approach corner far too fast.
Lock up on entry.
Boot full of throttle on exist.
10 points for every tyre hit, an extra 50 for hitting Josh.
Excellent day out - highly recommended.
Although we all didn't believe him at first the tuition was excellent. Big thank you to Nick the instructor.
But the day would not have been the same with out a great bunch of guys and our own personal photographer - Cheers guys and a big thank you to Neil for organising it all.
See you all at Sweet Lamb for a re-match

Hi folks.
I've never driven a car quite in that way before, (I've never even been on a track day) so I wasn't sure what to expect. On the demonstration laps, I was convinced that the instructor (Nick) was a complete nutter and there was no way I'd be able to match his speed. By the end of the day however, my suspisions were confirmed
Everyone got much quicker through the day, and I think we were getting some respectable times by the end. It's strange how everyone seemd to slow down when Nick wasn't shouting "ease, brake, power, more more more" at us.
You forgot a bit Phil....
(from personal experience)
Approach corner far to fast
Lock up on entry
Boot full throttle on exit
Spend next 10 seconds trying to recover from the resulting spin
And in DIGGY's case
Approach corner far to fast
Lock up on entry
Boot full throttle on exit
Nurse bruised and battered arm from where the instructor keeps punching you
I'm still not convinced they didn't change the car during lunch, those hairpin slides seemed so much easier in the afternoon.
Hopefully, next time they'll have sorted out the tracking as well eh Diggy?
Big thanks to Neil for arranging this, and cheers to all the guys for making this such a great day.
See y'all soon....

Thanks to all the drivers , supporters and Bill Gwynne staff.
Another superb day with a superb bunch.
After the first session I was sure the Diggy was gonna do some serious damage to the instructor.
Apparantly Russell is getting a SatNav system to guide him to the Hairpin
Seriously glad you all enjoyed it and see ya all in Sweet lamb

I must say that we are all taking the mick out of nick.....Hmmmmm but the guy is superb. His way was so much quicker and i think that we all went away with sooooo much more car control than before.....
I felt this needed to be said so as not to offend nick (the instructor) who did a sterling job. the situation may be being played up a little but what fun we all had.........

I confess that I may have spent the odd hundred hours or so of my leisure time fine-tuning my driving skills on Colin McRae Rally 2 .
Well so I thought. For about the last year or so I have not been able to improve on my stage times but last night I decided to put into practice some of the lessons learnt on Saturday.
Gone are the boot fulls of throttle and hands full of opposite lock and in its place more medium to hard braking and minimal movements on the steering wheel.
The result. Even though I still have to perfect the technique!!, I am already over 10 seconds a stage quicker than before!! - £250 well spent
Neil, let us know when the next group is so I can go back and challenge Pete on the computer
I'll get m coat.
Phil
PS Diggy, you're only saying that cos you don't want to get hit again
