Going to look at a 97 2.0 GT. Is there anything I should really look for. Dont know much about Subarus.

Rust around the rear arches.

Even if it looks like a few small marks it will be worse where
you can't see it and very costly to repair.

Check water to make sure its to correct level, check it from the main tank not the over flow tank.

Check oil make sure at correct level, check before engine is started. Check gear box oil, that has a dipstick to the left of the intercooler. Should be clean and correct level.

Make sure runs ok and boosts ok when turbo kicks in.

Service history helps and proof of cambelt change.
