Default A what's it worth thread!!

Right boys
Couple of weeks ago I bought a 20g (cdb) to go in my car but now have decided to build my own, more of a business descision then anything else.

So the cdb is going up for sale now I know the lad I got it off and it came with a receipt (8000 miles ago) for a rebuild including omega rods uprated pump bearings etc, (just short of 4k rebuild)

Now I know it will loose value as I have bought it as I know the lad and I know he is trust worthy but obvousley on the market people don't know me nor need to trust me.

So questions
My friend has a perfectly running classic he's more then happy for me to borrow next week pull his lump and fit this one to get a video of it running. Then swap them back (a lot of messing about in my eyes) so I could sell it like that

Or sell it as is but probably take a loss

Or strip it and sell it all of in bits

What do you think the values off them are. As in
Proof of life or as is ?

Cheers

What on earth is a 20g (cdb) I've been here since 2003 and never heard of one of those.

It's a close deck block pal ej20g is the first part of the engine number. Known as 20gs to track lads and cdb is just short for close deck block

You obviously travel in some interesting circles, to me a 20g is a turbo.

You might do a little better if you give a full detailed spec list and who built it, as those are the factors that will determine what it's really worth, joe bloggs garden shed build aint gona cut it.

Surely there must be more than that for the best part of 4k?

What rods and crank were used and is it a long engine, if so what heads/cams and any headwork involved.

Also never heard of "special scoobys"

Special Scoobies Colchester? I've heard the name in the past and there's no horror stories iirc. I think it's a bloke called Andy.

Impossible to price. Unless you can provide documented proof of provenance and show it running with good compression and a leak down test, then I doubt you'll get any takers.

There's plenty of engines on eBay that sell with no history, ill try it on there with a reserve, I know the best way to get strong money for it is to pull it down glass blast rebuild it again and sell it with a warranty, it's just i have 3 in que to be built at moment plus my own.

Suppose worse case I can keep it as a spare for when a pals gives way

10 year ago I was building them full time mate then gave it up until last year when a friends started ratterling, done 6 since then. At the moment I don't solely do imprezas. But I am just on with a friend using the contacts we have threw other Marques to source some suppliers like cc clutches etc.

Currently have some coil packs in devolpment working with rotary revs and there d585s they have in production. When they come threw I may bite the bullet and pay as a trader,

Are you local to Leeds? What Subaru do you run? If you don't mind me asking
