Default Plastic tab on inlet pipe

Hi all,

Spec D STi 07 plate.

Just noticed a very very slight misting of oil by the inlet jubilee clip nearest the turbo. Standard turbo / induction etc.

The jubilee clip doesn't seem very tight, but only a few turns seemed to distort the inlet rubber pipe, so I wound it back roughly to where it was.

There is a plastic tab, about an inch long which goes across the jubilee clip (but not touching the clip itself). When I turn the 10 mm nut on the clip, the thread seems to push this tab. This may just be a coincidence as to where the clip is on the pipe if you see what I mean.

What's this tab for? As said it's about an inch long and maybe 5mm wide, black plastic. Not some sort of adjuster is it?

The end just before the clip seems to go into the inlet pipe itself, and looks kind of rounded / pressed in.

Before I turned the nut on the clip, it wasn't touching this plastic tab. Will be awkward to get a good picture, but I may try.

Thanks in advance.

Ok, why would the clip need a guide?

Ah, no. It's not on the red pipe side, it's on the front of the turbo, where the cold air goes in from the air filter / induction etc.
