Default What to look out for?

Hi all. Been a long time since I was on here, a little over a year since I sold my Hawkeye. Anyway, I'm going to be viewing a Spec C blob eye over the Easter weekend & just wanted to ask if there is anything I should look out for? Any known faults etc that are common on these cars? Any help will be much appreciated, thanks Lee.

Hi

Check for rust on body and underneath, good history with belts changes every 5 year.
Listen from cold for piston slap and take on a good drive listen for noises from transmission,
Do a couple of full lock turns listen for CV joints...

Got a link to the car?

Looks quite tidy, just get the gearbox warm and listen and check for crunches up and down shifts

Don't compare to your old car tho, they are hardcore and no a everyday car in my opinion.

Yeah, it does. Ok mate, thanks for your advice. It won't be used as an every day car, mainly on a weekend.

Looks like a clean car, I personally wouldn't pay £12k for one of these though. I think it's a little overpriced.

I considered one of these or the later (2005) widetrack Spec C RA but ended up getting an S202.

All of these cars are, as pointed out above, quite hardcore and not the best car for a daily driver. However they're raw and great fun.

I think I can hear a bit of slap when cold on mine. Anything to worry about long term?

Not really, I think most older impreza's suffer from it these days.

Just keep a eye on it and check oil on a regular basis

How much would you say I should be looking at paying for the Spec C then?

l wouldn't want to pay much more than £10-11k unless it was a high grade from auction.

Yeah, I am looking to spend around £10,500-£11,00 but all depends wether the seller will drop that much

I would go have a look at this, you will need to travel for the right car, my last spec c took me over 300 miles to look at her
plus this one is a wide track
