There must be quite a few people on this board who are part of at least one Subaru related Facebook group........But, have you noticed that everyone in the group will be a Subaru expert, dishing out advice and sharing the extensive model knowledge they have picked up in their 2 weeks of ownership

Its amazing, no its a miracle, no its voodoo magic sh*t.

-He who shouts loudest pretty much always has the least to say!

-The knowledgable people who know what theyre talking about are too busy doing theyre thing to be dishing out ****e advice on forums.

-The same % of every populace is a feckin idiot, so high population density give them an opportunity to become a majority.

Mix these three facts and you get a fundamental problem with busy forums and facebook.

Best way to find out who knows nothing is terms they use, you will see alot of people on this forum using American terms, this points to them getting there info off Google and not there own first hand knowledge.

Beware of the headers and hoods crew

Ceramic coated pistons do exist, I believe they're used in F1 and motorbikes.
It's cermantic pistons that are the bees knees.

I especially like the people who you try to be nice to and help them with something and get both barrels back full of abuse cos 'you know **** all mate'...do you even own a subaru, when my Facebook profile clearly shows one and has for the last 10 years

I honestly don't know why genuine enthusiasts even bother joining them or posting.
Its a completely pointless exercise as anyone with an ounce of sense firstly wouldn't take a blind bit of notice of any advice given on any of those pages and secondly realise 99% of the members are idiots.

A) They are good for a laugh
B) It's a good place to sell to the uneducated.
C) Every now and then a bargain crops up.

I can't argue with that but it's also full of scammers but like most Facebook groups it's just the same people posting the same thing over and over again.
If that interests you then i guess that's why you are a member.
Also they are generally moderated by idiots with Hitler complexes.

Agree with, you do get some bargains on there that people have no clue on pricing, it's either up or down.
I'm not complaining as I managed to pick up a HDI gt2 fmic kit for £160 delivered lol.
And a few other bargains here and there, I just pay the fees even if it's for £10 as generally I'll only pay fees if over £50 on snet though.

A prime example is a debate at present about a JDM Impreza model which is for sale. The owner and other idiots don't have a clue, one has even posted a link to Ask Mid to confirm its identity and backed it up with telling me to check on Keighley Trade Centres website!

The MY03 Subaru Impreza Spec-C RA by any chance, told him months ago he's been had over, Just because a certain performance specialist registered it as an RA he takes their word for it and won't listen to anyone else....I even got him to post his applied model number by it wasn't good enough...nevermind the fact they never did a 100pcd Blob RA

There is a FB "uk subaru cars and parts for sale" page where some ***** called Liam Hallet is trying to pass off a chavved up MY 2003 Spec C Motorsport Edition as an RA They even quote KTC as being a font of knowledge.

He just won't listen to fact!

It's no different to forums in all honesty.. We have some right plonkers on here who I wouldn't listen to in a million years regardless of advice.. But you do get to know who the wise and knowledgable are and who the dipsh1ts are.. You just got to filter them out.

Most of us are on or have been on several different forums.. And they all have the same pattern..

I'm not on Facebook so can't see what goes on on the other side.. But it will be no different to forums.

oh its totally different, facebook groups are something anyone can make for free.

so what you get is a page moderated by a hitler who chooses what can be posted and can delete anything they dont fancy and ban the poster.

so pages like sioc exist which is a magnet for idiots and comical advice moderated by a bloke that ruined a wrx and if you post an opinion about the car or anything different to the opinion he has you are instantly banned.

then you get pages where people will post links to places like this and post an opinion on the poster or subject rather than do it on the forum in question as they are to scared to do it in public and prefer to hide behind an page where they wont get any comeback or embarrassment.

but basically facebook is just sh1te, so you're not missing much

Some bell end has posted on SIOC that his Impreza makes a noise at 130/140 mph on public roads - he clearly does this regularly.

Only one of the responders suggested that if he didn't drive that fast, it wouldn't happen.

Scary - imagine advertising that on a public site, legally you just incrimonated yourself (the police might have trouble proving it but nothing stopping the traffic boys popping round for a friendly "chat") - doesn't make sense.

As a legacy owner I take great pride in guffawing at Impreza owners and their shenanigans.

Erm.... That's it really
