JDM 2.0 WRX
What turbo does a JDM 2.0 WRX (not STi) hawkeye have from factory and are they twin scroll?
What can they achieve with an exhaust and a mild remap (ala PPP)?
Thanks.

I think only the STi's are twin scroll. Not sure on what turbo the WRX are fitted with but my JDM WRX Blob is single scroll.

What power/torque does it have and have you done anything to yours?

The only difference between a UK and a JDM WRX is the JDM uses AVCS, Both use a TD04 turbo.

What does that give in the real world, better torque I assume?
Do any Ecutek or opensource definition files exist to get them remapped, if yes what can it achieve with an exhaust and a mild remap (ala PPP)?
I've test driven a 2004 EU 2.0 WRX and didn't like it (in comparison with a 2.5 WRX), no torque/go until 4k or so then it started going.
I wonder how different does a remapped JDM one feel? Worth the gamble?

AVCS allows advancement of the intake cam - this helps with turbo spool up by increasing your engines volumetric efficiency.
Yes opensource and ECUtek defs exist for remapping. Look at the S20X settings for inspiration, particularly the AVCS table.
You won't gain much in top end with it, but spool up and midrange will be much better than a normal WRX could give you.
A regular UK wrx will be a little sad - but mapped up you'll get plenty of kick from 3000rpm or so, even better when the cats are out of the way.

Ok so no difference engine wise between a hawkeye JDM WRX and a hawkeye UK WRX other than the engine size?
It doesn't sound like a car to go for then
