Default Which Turbo for 2.1 Stroker on a Classic

Hello All,

My car is currently with Alan and Martyn down at Enginetuner.

Its having a fully forged CDB fitted capable of 600bhp. I have the supporting mods of 6 speed box, porsche brakes, fmic etc.....

Now my dilemma has come about which turbo to choose from.

From all my reading i have come to the choice of three.

SC42 billet +
SC46 - Thought they did a billet + version but can't find what i thought id read.
GT30

My car is an every day car. I have no real interest in top speed as my opinion of the impreza is its an A2B car. If i wanted something that was a motorway monster i'd prob go down the German route.

I'm intending on doing the odd novice track day.

Any advice or experience would be appreciated as i'll be calling the clinic in the morning and then having to make a decision.

Thanks in advance

It's a lovely thought but i can't justify spending a couple more grand on a twisted set up after buying dcm headers and turbo back exhaust

You can buy direct bolt on too, just twisted set up is way better

Makes sense as I'm sure Alan said it was an option. My biggest question is, why would you rate this over the SC range?

How does it run? I'm presuming little lag?

Sonic, Haven't really looked into the Lateral range. I would (with little or know knowledge) have thought this was going to be quite laggy and more suited to the track?

I don't. It's just something I would love at some point, but it's a great cost. The others are good too, SC and MD series.

You can get a stock location ATP GTX3076r there's loads of people using it over on US forums and it is rated highly. Not to mention shiny

I think Lateral Performance can get you a stock location GTX3076r from Owen Developments?

Speak to Allan or Martyn about the turbos you're thinking about and see what they say. Tbh get the gtx3076r and later if you're flush, have it rotated

The three options we discussed today were the SC42 billet + The sc46 (I mentioned billet + but Alan hadn't heard of one, he only knew of the 42) and the GT30. Hence creating the thread.

Trying to look through all the graphs i'm starting to want to bang my head against a wall.

The power delivery from a rotated setup is completely different to a standard position turbo, more aggressive and the top end pull is lovely

Any Owen developments turbos are to be brought from chevron.

Lateral sell the md range I believe to be turbo dynamics turbos

Scooby clinic sc/blouch turbos

I run a sc40 on a 2.0 not laggy at all but I wouldn't stick it on a stroker build as it wouldn't justify a 5k engine build just my opinion.
A sc46 billet or even a 42 be great turbo choice.
Md321v be good with avcs heads
Md321t with non avcs
What's head specs?

Hi there

You will need only rotated downpipe and upipe nothing more, yours headers will stay, assume they're 3 bolt and exhaust, exhaust will stay if you want

Agree with Rotated/twisted setup power delivery is just awesome

Thanks,Jura

Currently running a SC46 on. Ine, its only running at 75% as I had fuelling issues, should be able to crack 500 with meth once that sorted.

It really is an animal already. (430)

As soon as funds allow I'll be heading down the GT35r route.
