Question

Hi all,

Does anyone run octane booster in their cars ?? Normal day use, not just track days.

I ran Silkolene Pro Boost for a couple of months (had the ECU (?) reset) and she ran well etc. However running Octane Boost all the time was expensive and now I just use super unleaded. To be honest, I can't tell any difference.........

Do they really work ? Should you really be able to notice a performance increase etc.

Thanks,
stiVman

errr, I should have said above that my car is an STI V. I noticed through various posts that some people are running their STI's with SUL and Octane Booster.

Is this necessary at all ??
Any comments would be useful.

Thanks again

stiVman, run a search (click top right corner of screen). There is a mountain of reading to be had.

On the other hand, if you want a quick summary, the answer is yes, lots of people run octane booster (usually Millers Octane Plus) and yes, it does make a difference.

dingy, you're mistaken, M8.

Millers works. You can feel it and you can measure it.

And if you've got a 100RON Jap import you'll be in trouble without it.

I have used octane booster + SUL for well over a year in my STi5. Started with Pro Boost then switched to Millers (cheaper and doesn't spill/stain the paintwork). The Knocklink shows no sign of detting. No apparent adverse effects. Blow the cost, I just want peace of mind. I noticed some detting when SUL went from 98 to 97RON. Presumably 97RON is on the edge of the ECU's range.

Thanks to all for the "rather mixed" bag of replies. I have ordered a case of millers octane boost from Scooby Mania to try.

Regards,
