are boxer engines noisier than `normal` engines??
normal= inline 4 cylinder
ive had mine forged and all the little knocks and rattles really scare my wallet!!
ive read that they do knock to a point... but where is that point??
they just don't sound as quiet as your normal run of the mill engine..

Mines fully forged and is louder than a standard engine, i know what youre saying about the rattles as i was paranoid at first, ive learned to live with it now though.
Try taking it a good run down a motorway and see if they quiten, mine do, i assume thats when the pistons are fully expanded.

It's because forged engines run proper piston to bore clearance to allow for maximum piston expansion which stops the piston seizing. Listen at how it sounds now & if it changes get it looked at. A KS3 or similar is a good idea too. Mine sounds like a bag of spanners when cold & is still a little noisy when warm but has been like that for about 3 years running over 450bhp.

I'm finding it very unnerving to be fair.
I guess it does go abit quieter after a run... But still noisey

To be honest I don't think mine really changes in sound?? Maybe little when it's warmed up.. But not enough to settle me nerves!!
