Checks before remap?
Hi guys
Another question, may be a stupid one but still being fresh to scoobs I'm building on the knowledge....
I am getting close to the point where I will be remapping my 53 plate WRX (I have a few more 'pieces' to collect) and I was wondering if there are any particular checks/tests you would recommend doing prior to the map to ensure the car will accept it i.e. compression tests. I have never mapped a car so I have no idea what to expect or if they do any checks on the day.
Just an FYI - mods, once gathered:-
STI up pipe
Sports cat down pipe
Centre cat removal
Deresonated centre section (2.5")
Angled back box (2.5")
255 fuel pump
3 port solenoid
Panel filter

As long as the car drives and you can open it up with no problems e.g bad misfiredue due to bad sparkplug. then you will be good
Just make shur u check all fluids and oils befor you go.
Are you Dyno or road mapping?

Cheers guys, really not sure on road map or dyno to be honest. Car seems to be running in great condition, a member on another forum mentioned a 'neutral switch' on/near the gearbox that is a regular thing that needs to be replaced...can you shed any light on this? I will do a full service, oils etc prior to mapping

I'd check up-pipe for leaks, air intake hose for leaks, give MAF sensor a quick blast with brake cleaner and it's always worth fitting new plugs if age of existing aren't known.

Up pipe will be checked before fitting with new gaskets and bolts, good shout on the MAF sensor will keep that in mind and plugs will be coming out along with engine/gearbox/diff oil change

im sure the potential mapper will ensure that all is ok with the car prior to mapping of it, he will do a couple of runs just to make sure. if he/she finds any issues they will let you know.
just do the usual checks like all fluids, all pipe work is in good safe order and fill up the car with the fuel you will use regularly.
