Default Clutch, or something more??

I have a few little things going on that I'm wondering could be more than 'little things'!!
Firstly I've had what sounds like a metallic rattling, almost like a loose nut and bolt rattling about coming from (I think) the front offside wheel, or something in that area. It's only faint and is there when driving at speed, or even moving slowly in traffic. When parking and turning the wheel it develops into more of a squeak, and isn't related to pressing the brake.

What concerns me more is recently I'm noticing my clutch is a smelling whenever, I'm parking for example, or pulling out of a an uphill junction, anything that requires some clutch control.

Having just read something about diffs I've remembered that it does try to kangaroo a bit when in traffic and moving slowly in 1st gear.
Engine mounts??

Can anyone shed any light on whether these may be connected or what may be going on??

My car is a 99 turbo 2000 and is completely standard, well maintained and never driven that hard. On 122k miles now.
There's no reason for the clutch to be excessively worn from me and I think it's just been a daily driver type car all it's life, certainly not used and abused.

What's the life expectancy of a clutch?
Never had one go on me yet so don't really know what to expect!!
Thanks

Rattling, have you checked for loose heat shields on the turbo/exhaust? Squeak when turning wheel, power steering fluid ok? Auxiliary belt ok tight enough?(this could be the burning smell)
Very hard to diagnose online. Any reputable garages close to you who might give you a free check and some advice?

Thanks for the suggestions.
I hate looking under cars and tbh don't know what I'm looking for!
I'll try check heat shield, fluid levels, and aux belt. I have had some of the heat shield removed because it was loose so could be that actually.
Yeah, it is a bit hard to go off my descriptions but just thought I'd see if it pointed to anything obvious before I go to a garage.
I do have a decent garage I can take it to so I'll prob book it in next week I think .

Its most probably this for the sound ^^^^.100+ mileage is quite alot if its the original clutch but if its engaging properly and not slipping under acceleration it should be ok.SJ.

Had a quick look underneath. There is what I think is a heat shield that does move slightly when I hit it. Not sure if that's the cause of the rattle but it could well be.
Fluid levels are fine.
The auxiliary belt is tight but I did notice very fine cracks starting, and the edge just starting to fray a little in one place. It does occasionally slip and squeal.

It probably is on original clutch as I've got all the receipts and it's not been replaced. I've not noticed it slipping and it changes gear fine. Sometimes it takes a couple of attempts to get into reverse but I didn't really think too much of it.

I'll book it in to the garage within the next couple of weeks and get them to check.

Thank you

122k on a the original clutch is a good run.

New clutch kit is only £189 if needed: http://aztecperformance.com/clutches...ed-300bhp.html
