Can I suggest getting a pic up?

Does it goes 'ptshhhh' when you lift of the throttle?

That would be a chav valve.

I've only had the car 3 weeks it came with the car, I'm thinking about taking it off but wanted to know what the box was before I remove it as it has a tube connected to the DV. I want to put a standard 1 back on. If I take the DV box off I assume the standard 1 will go straight back on or will there be pipes etc that need reconnecting ???

Yes. Exactly the same.

You will also need the return hose which may well be blanked off with a bung. Have a look down the the left of the valve to see if the hose is there.

Yes the hose is there with a bung in it. The smaller 10mm thick pipe has a 'T' cut into it which goes to the black box so I assume I remove the t piece and put the 10mm pipe to the spout on the standard DV. Can I ask why are people so dead against the chav valve is it cos of the noise or does it effect performance ?

The hose with the t piece in it is for your boost gauge. The standard valve also has a vacuum take off so it will fit straight on.

I dont have a boost gauge in my car.. The t piece has a pipe which goes to the little black box pictured In the link attached above... This box has 2 wires coming out of it which I assume is the 12v and earth.. Other than that there is nothing else

Trust me, the wires and t piece will be for a boost gauge. One was obviously fitted at one point and removed. Why not ask the previous owner?

Looks like a Defi boost sensor to me. Regardless of make, it is for a boost gauge.

impreza uses maf based induction so air the dump valve blows has been mesured causing the car to bog down abit. some cars like mr2 turbos dont have mafs so VTA dump valves are fine

It has far more to do with over-fueling as the fuel stays at the same level but the intake air gets vented out, obviously only when you come off the throttle.

Bore wash is considered a downside of vent to atmosphere valves, but I have never seen an engine failure from this.
