Default cam buckets - woops!

hi all

car: 1993 wrx import.

while sorting through some parts on the work bench ive managed to knock all the cylinder head cam buckets on the floor and so now now they are all mixed up

is it essential they all go back in where they came out?

also can I bleed them to remove all the dirty oil and put them back in empty?

thanks all?

It wont really matter where they go back tbh as long as non of them are tight in the bores etc and yeah theyll be ok if you bleed them empty, just make sure you build the oil pressure up before you start the engine.

Its not really what you should do, but itll do buthow about the shims on top though. They need to go in the right ones. You'll need to reset the clearances which is a bit of a ballache tbh

im not sure which bits you refer to. the valves were left in place. all that came out were some buckets.

Should be hydraulic lifters on the OP engine, so just a case of pulling the lifters apart to clean the sludge and cr*p out of them and reassemble with a drop of oil.

You can see a piece of bearing debris in the spring chamber on the far left of the picture, so always wise to clean them out.
