Default hhmmmm engine management came on

As title in popped on at a steady 70mph on motorway driving, havent noticed car feel any different just annoying light

do you still have a CAT? I remember when I removed mine it was fine for a while and then one day cruising at 70 the engine management light came on

best bet is read the code and it will help point you in the right direction.

ive only just bought it and not sure what mods are done, i can see its been de cat and a big silly air filter but dont know if its remapped, bought it off a dealer so couldnt ask previous owner etc

Ah, my guess would be decat without a map then, first thing to do is buy a OBD2 reader from somewhere like eBay or amazon, between £7-20 depending if you need Bluetooth or wifi (apple phones don't support Bluetooth versions) and then download an app to read the codes.
Other thing worth mentioning is if it has in fact had the cats removed without a map this is very bad and can lead to the engine going bang due to boost spikes etc (more so on new age cars I believe)

says on logbook wrx300 but think its just wrx mate and shes a 54 plate with newer interior dials etc if that makes any difference ..... probably doesn't lol

Gotcha, well in that case if it hasnt had a map then it definitely should get one... does it have a boost gauge in it at the moment? if so do you know what it is the highest boost it hits?

im really new to this boost etc mate so i havent a clue, ive came from a vectra diesel lol and nope no boost gauge, these little snags its got i still really adore the car

Get it to a specialist asap for a diagnosis/dyno session then remap if required and until then avoid driving it hard if you can.
