Thumbs up Type R's getting harder to find

I've been looking for a Type R for some time now as I'm in the position to do a project that I've dreamt of for a while and I have already started making plans/sourcing bespoke parts etc in preparation for it.

Problem is, I cant seem to find one to get me started as I'm looking for a rolling shell or non runner etc. I dont need the engine/brakes/gearbox/suspension as this will all be replaced. I would prefer a version 4/5 with revised dash but I'm toying with doing a hawkeye dash so this isnt essential.

My only other option is to buy one complete then strip it back and sell off what I dont need, but this will mean a bigger outlay as I'd likely be buying someones pride and joy.

Colour isnt important, I dont expect to find one rust free but minimal would be good.

I'm aware that there are breakers on here that sell unregistered shells and 2 door specific parts for astronomical prices. I'm looking for something that is uk registered and MUST not be a cat c/d.

If anyone spots something or knows of one could they let me know as I'm keen as hell to get this summer project started.

That would be appreciated Banny. Saw a V5 on ebay last week for £2795 that had apparently had a 4k rebuild that had blown up and he'd given up on it but when I offered to pay the full asking price he turned it down and wouldnt reply to messages or give a phone number. Not sure if it was a scam or timewaster but I had the cash.

I have 2k spare to spend on a rolling shell, minus the parts i listed above, and someone has pointed out one on Gumtree for £3750 thats complete. Only problem is the dccd isnt working so if I was to sell the box etc I'd need to put money into getting it working as I'd want to sell it in working order. I would estimate being able to get back £1500 from the engine, box, turbo, suspension, brakes so it would be a possibility but I dont have the finances in place to go that high at the moment. I could stretch to 4k after the weekend if a few purchases and sales go through.

Its frustrating having a million ideas rolling around and nothing to get started on, obviously I understand that my low initial outlay is what is restricting me but hopefully in the next couple of weeks that will improve.

I have a friend who works for a carbon fibre company that makes F1/Le Mans parts, prototypes for Jaguar, Mclaren etc that is keen to start making parts for the car that we'll demo and look to retail in future, I have the engine pretty much sorted, will be going 6 speed and have 2 options for styling. I'm either going to do a 22b/RB5 2 door in 86F with red/black detailing or an ABW wide arch in 86F, but nothing is set in stone yet.

They have all been unregistered Matt, and completely bare. Ideally I'd want something with the hardware in place like loom etc and glass/trim on it as thats all time consuming work. Dont mind accident damaged if its unrecorded.

Anyone know this car?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMP...item462153f32a

I've messaged the seller every time its been listed because he's stating its 380bhp yet mentions absolutely nothing about turbo, injectors, mapper/ecu etc and he never replies. Made £3700 with reserve not met last week so I asked for a purchase price and still got nothing. Could be a decent spec car, shame the seller is a douche.

As a project it could be ideal considering the parts you've listed is pretty accurate for what you'd get back. I'd say go to £4k to see if it beats the reserve. I think as it's a fairly poor ad it could give you a lot of reasons to walk away at the point of sale as it seems that's the only way to get the owners attention.
You could get there to find the "uprated" brakes are the standard 4 pot/2 pot with godspeed discs, or they could be brembo's.
The engine internals could have been collected by the owner then built by a reputable builder, or it could have been thrown together by some back street monkey. It could have had a Newage STI bottom end thrown into it.
You should be able to recoup more money with the defi's, the apexi FC, the Nur Spec and the alloys.
It would need a very thorough look over and for you to calculate what you will make back, and what that means you have paid for the rolling shell. It's worth one negative feedback to not buy a shed.

Mine was offered to me 6 months before I bought it for double what I ended up paying for it. I was lucky enough to know a lot of people who knew the owner and was under no illusion how the car had been treated, but my intention was always to pull the original engine out. I even spoke to the mechanic who did the accident repair 5 years previously.

If your going to be handing over £4k for a car you really want to be going to take a look at it and having a really good poke around it.

That's just the point, I wouldn't be handing over a penny until I'd thoroughly checked it over. As the seller is **** at communication the only way he'd get to see it is to outbid everyone. All this bollocks about a bid being a legally binding contract should be ignored, and as said I'm sure there would be plenty to say that the advert was innacurate and a seller trying to sell a car doesn't want negative feedback about how it's not as advertised correctly.
