Does it feel a lot faster than a 320 bhp bug wrx

The 320 wrx will feel more lively and responsive low down and IMO has better gear ratios than the 6 speed sti. It depends on how you drive the car tbh mate. The 400bhp will come in to its own once on boost and higher up in the revs.

I'm hoping to get high 300s/400 out of mine in the very near future, when my engine is built

Not sure of the cost to get it there as it was bought how it is, that said I have now done 10,000 miles over 18 months and a lot of them have been pushing it and it's never missed a beat. It's running 443 and a massive difference over my 55 plate Blob running 330 but and it's a big but, you soon get used to that power so to me it doesn't feel as lively as when I first had it. I suppose whatever you've got you want more . Andy

It's not expensive but it's not cheap,it can be done without all the mods I have listed, but it is the most reliable way, parts required:turbo, air filter, front mount intercooler, injectors, parallel fuel set up,spark plugs 7's,3port boost solenoid,FPR,remapped ECU.thats the way that I achieved it 430 bhp and the car has been running it for 5 years perfect never missed a beat.Depending on how and what parts you buy wether brand new or second hand it can be achieved quite reasonably, and as long as you maintain the car with regular servicing and filter changes etc...you should have happy motoring, just make sure that you modify the rest of the car with supporting mods I.e brakes, suspension etc...and you should be fine.SJ.

You've got me thereIt's a question to be honest I don't feel comfortable asking but I will give you my honest opinionif it was me and I was looking down the road of modifying for power a STI is what I would have its just a better starting place as it is set up more for performance then the WRX,with the engine, brakes, gearbox etc.....but it's a decision that only you know if it is really worth it for you to do,but if you could get good money for your car and pick up a STI for a sensible price then go for it.here is a video of why my mate originally went for one, that explains the differences and how much money it would cost for just the standard STI setup.SJ.

I'm going for it on my wrx, but this has come about do to other factors. had a minor bump, so we went to town with the body work and added some engine mods, hoping for 330-350 ish, but lost a bearing. Having spent so much on it, we've decided to have the engine built and adding to the spec to aim for high 300s, maybe early 400s. However, if I'd known where this was going to lead and what the plans would end up as, as SJ said, Id have been much better off having an STi to start with.

Turn the boost up, get a standalone, add some meth.. hit 500+

Ye lots of people have broken the 500 barrier. Seen 450-80 on vpower, 500+ with meth. I guess there just numbers, lots of tuners will give you numbers, but how is the response?

I would go for a medium size 380-400 turbo and enjoy the spool up & minimize lag. I been up there but the power band is too small IMO..

KAS is right in a sense, but it all depends on where your car is going to spend most of its time,if it's the road I agree that high 300/400 bhp is perfect but if a track day car or a weekend terrorist quarter mile etc...power is what you want to have and lots of it.SJ.

I thought bug sti's were only capable of running up to 400 safely, 450 at a push. Didnt realise they could be taken further so thats good to know (as I have an engine for sale lol)
