Hi all, I'm new to Subaru, I have recently got hold of a P1, it is No 0002. Is there any thing I should be looking for regarding maintanance, other than oil and fluid checks like on an ordinary car?

Any advice would be received with great thanks.

Hi mate and welcome.

Rear arch rust is a bit of a killer on Classic Scoobs, Service history (but you have already got it), it's run or been run on Shell V-Power or Momentum and it's not overly modified. Standard is the new modified when it comes to holding value.

I hope you did not pay over the odds for it but No. 0002 should hold a bit of a premium over some of the other numbers.

Now get some pictures up .

Thanks Trooper, I think it is a standard one, no flash bits. V-Power or Momentum is what I use. What about oil, is there a prefered type, or would Halfords fully synth be ok? I'll keep an eye on the arches.
Pics to follow.

More exposure to your wallet.
More frequent servicing than a “regular” car, 7500 miles iirc (personally I only drive about 5-5.5k miles a year and get a service at MOT time).

The rear arches tend to go from the inside out, so have a look down the inside of the rear arches by taking out the boot liners.

Have a look on the Opie Oils website, some very good deals and way cheaper than Halfrauds.

It depends on who you speak to on which flavour oil is best but regular, good quality oil and filter changes are a must. Have a look at the history with regards to the diff and gearbox oils too.

Cam belts and pulleys are expensive when they go but not to expensive to change (cheaper than a new engine).

As with anything, pay cheap and pay twice, don't scimp and the car will last.

Pictures, come on .
