Think the reason for keeping the original is to stop it running lean and melting pistons.

No, I agree with josh, it wasnt relevant to the question asked.

I dont think there is such a thing as a "loud" recirc valve.

I THINK Forge motorsport did one that recircs a portion of the air to prevent rich running on gear change, but also have a normal dump valve on it too...

A normal VTA DV will cause it to run rich on gear changes etc and could potentially cause problems. But you are after a recirc so I wouldnt worry

Yep you can adjust the ratio or recirc/blow off too so you can tune it properly to get it running right

Tell him to sell bungs and blanking plates on ebay as a kit, he'd make a fortune.

Ive got a standard re-circ from a Nissan Skyline GTR on my hawk STi, only reason I got the GTR one as I have a FMIC and this fitted perfect with the pipes etc, and with a air filter and 1.65bar of boost I think its quite loud!!

My stock valve running 1.4 Bar on a TD05 is plenty loud enough. I have removed the intake silencer though.

Fitting something just for the noise it makes but not damaging your engine...how many of you lot taking the **** have fitted after market 'zorst?!

Josh, HKS SSQV converted to recirc is what you want; I bought an HKS fmic with one and it was easier to convert it than fanny around with a adapter for the standard BOV. Sounds pretty cool too and I'm hate loud cars.

My GTR recirc looks like the standard subaru re-circ that you already have probably on your TMIC!! The only difference is that it doesnt have the flange to fit to the TMIC but instead works for the car which has a FMIC(GTR already has standard i think)!!

To be fair mate, the more boost and if you have a open air filter will make a big difference on the sound, even a standard re-circ will sound louder as the car is running a lot more boost and obviously the turbo is working a lot harder and making more noise!!!

I wouldn't bother unless you running maf-less and had the car mapped for it, as I think something to do with the Maf getting confused and basically drives like a bag of spanners!!!

Driven my brothers STi with a dump valve delete and even though it sounded good, it drove horrible, Imagine driving on boost and as soon as you lift off, it feels like your hitting a brick wall, thats what it felt like to me!! But once mapped on a aftermarket ecu running mafless, it felt a lot smoother!!

Just buy one and try it on your car, and if you dont like it, take it off, same goes for the intercooler plate, just cut a piece of metal out with 2 holes big enough for the bolts to attach to your TMIC!!!

Dunno, I have an adjustable BOV with the spring tension set to hardest and it only vents at high rpm, no matter how I set it the car drives the same. I can imagine a blanking plate/bung will not be a lot of money if someone actually markets/ebays them. Can try it for nowt as they say.

That's the noise Rob!

But to be honest to you all most casual car fans and general public will just think that's a dump valve. The noises aren't a million miles away.

I'm not quite sure how you work that out?

It is fairly obvious the difference...
