Buy cheap buy twice is what I always say.

There is no way I would let anyone who had just started out mapping anywhere near a car I owned.

I can do it dude, only £50.....For that price i also upload Space Invaders onto the ECU which comes in handy whilst you're waiting for the recovery truck to arrive due to a blown engine...

PM me

Seeing as you're a local, give Richard Henry a call. They'll look after you and Andy Carr works with them too. If you're going to upgrade your car do it properly.

The remap will be wasted, it'll just spin your lin long tyres.

In all seriousness, speak to Andy Carr you'll pay half of what ecutek and stuff cost.

No such thing as a cheap re-map, Get it wrong mate and you would be paying £0000s just to replace the engine through an in-experienced mapper!!!

Just get it done right the first time with one of the top mappers who have a good reputation!!!

Cheap is fine, you pay for your mapper's knowledge or add extra for an Ecutek fee...

What car, what year, what mods ?

You need Tim ( tweaks on Snet ) to talk to !

Pay to have it done properly, or wait until you can afford, it's that smile really.

Failing that try all other option and cross your fingers, in fact cross everything!
Boost bleed valve.
Change the restrictor pill size.
Self teach to map
Let someone with little/no experience map it.
Sell it and buy a motorbike!

Oh and for what it's worth, you could probably get a 2001-2005 WRX to 350 bhp for under £800 doing it right if your handy with a set of Spanners

Your buying the wrong cars then, and by your initial post it sounds like your buying by what is governed by your wallet. Some of tbe classics are awesome cars, and some are just dreadful, same goes for the newer cars, yes Subaru fevcked up with the cheap pistons in the 2.5, and honey have got heavier, but they have got stronger, reliable and safer as time goes by. Buy your self a Spec C and report back.

280 is the nost common figure but actually they can run upto 300 depending on engine and set up and wear.
I made 301 from a td04 and 'some' others have made the 300+ figure

If your going to push a TD04 to its max, I'd be inclined to swap it out for something that spools fine and will offer more bhp. There's so much choice out there, VF30,VF35, TDO5's even the Hybrid TD04

Its about how it spools up and drives, sod these bhp pub figures, TD05 turbo's are way to laggy on a 2 litre in my opinion(the 20g is a joke), and even if he sold the TD04 he wont get much money for it, and to buy any of those turbo's listed your looking over £250+ 2nd hand, and the OP is asking if there are any cheap mappers so I think £250-350 is out the question for a different turbo!!!

Wot (what)
Ad (had)
Probley (probably)
standered (standard)

anyway... as a lot have already mentioned I'd look at getting the car mapped by a known and trusted mapper such as JGM , Andy Carr ect... if its down to the cost then leave it abit longer and save that bit extra. why chance having a blown engine for the sake of a couple hundred quid. gather some items such as a full decat, fuel pump (walbro) a decent panel filter and have them all fitted when your ready for mapping, if your standard turbo is a strong unit then 280bhp with similar torque is possible. if your looking for more bhp then add a vf34/35 turbo some pink injectors and maybe the STi top mount.

should you decide to ignore us all and get a novice to do it then good luck to you but I think we'll be seeing a thread somewhere down the line looking for a new engine.
