Bye Bye Scooby

Well I've finally got rid of my MY99. Total cost (depreciation, fuel etc) £16670. Average mpg, 25.07.Cost per mile £0.94. After two yers of utterly trouble-free motoring I decided it was time to move on.
What did I like? Brilliant performance and handling. Reliability and looks. The car was parked overnight on a regular basis in one of the roughest areas of Bolton and was never touched. A friend reckoned this was because they thought it belonged to the local drug baron!
What didn't I like? Being thought of as the local drug baron! I dropped a friend off one night and she heard a gang of teenagers say, "Wow! A Scooby! Must be a druggie. Let's see who it is!" The cheap plastic interior, lousy lights and ineffectual heated rear window were beginning to annoy, but worst was resonating for an hour after getting out after a long drive. It was just too raw. Had I been able to afford it I would have kept it as a toy, but economics dictated a change. The replacement- an A6 Quattro with green leather armchairs and half a walnut treee. Pass the pipe and carpet slippers.
If anyone wants a decent set of gold alloys and road tyres check the 'For Sale' section and e-mail me with an offer.
Kev.

Andy,
Break down is as follows-
car new in May99 £24700
road tax, insurance and petrol £3796
servicing, accessories, cleaning materials and tyres £1674
trade in price £13500
mileage 17700.
Moral of the story is don't spend money on extras as they are woth nothing when you come to get rid!
