Default Respray standard or non-standard??

The Type R is in for a full respray next week and can't decide whether to stick with its standard colour or change it to a non-standard colour... the non-standard colour would be something similar to the RB5 / cool grey on the imports.

The car as it stands is a Type R STI 555 edition (for when Subaru won the championship in 1997) and is still in its standard yellow, albeit now faded closer to the cashmere yellow.

So its either restore it to its former glory (a little worried the original yellow might be alittle too 'yellow' for my liking) or repray it a gun-metal grey type colour... my problem really lies in whether or not this will affect re-sale values later down the line if I wasn't to keep it original.

Thanks

... these are pretty much the two options, although the Type R would a pre-facelift 1997

No such thing as a type r 555 edition chap. Its just a V3 type r, they all had 555 on the seats.
I'd personally stick with the yellow. I think its a fantastic colour on an R and you don't see many. Plus to do a colour change is a huge job and very expensive.

+1 on that. Not many yellow r's about.
Also if you change the colour the engine bay will be different colour - unless its engine out respray.

what's the rest of the car like? If it's not too deviated from OEM, then restore it as per the original colour code, could be an investment

From a distance you'd actually think the colour was the cashmere yellow, its faded that much. Plus the laquer has failed in some places so there spots of the original yellow in places. Inside the door shuts etc its pretty much the standard colour.

The shell itself if totally rust free, so thats why i'm getting it done as want it looking mint.

I do like the idea that once done it will be totally standard and in quite a rare colour... and as said, the full change would cost an extra £500-600.

The full colour change (if I went this route) would be an engine out job, so you'd have to be pulling up carpets etc to find any hint of the original colour.

Keep her the standard colour unless you are going to have the engine bay and all door shuts and boot done. The trouble with yellow is the pigments fade from the sun mine has,im going to dip mine yellow for now until I take her of the road and do a full respray.

I know graphics are tacky etc but would it not be worth while as a future investment to paint it as a proper replica of Peter solbergs rally car?

Solberg wasn't even in the rally championship when this car was made

The car above is not a 22B, its a V3 STI Type R.

And Peter Solberg didn't join the WRC until 1998 (the ops car is a 1997) and didn't actually drive a Subaru until 2000 I believe...

As in civic type r?

I can't be bothered any more tbh I thought there would be loads of bites about the rally graphics

I told the pr*ck faced ars*hole op that he should keep it original months ago and he insisted it had to be a gay colour and boxed everyone's heads on nights out about what colour he wanted etc.

Least he's seen sense now!

Calm down ladies!

It's my mates car, I do a lot of work on it when it needs owt doing, I said "gay" colour as he was wanting to paint it a new colour instead of keeping it its original colour.

Matty you'll get a sore head banging it against a brick wall

Would you mind posting the option code for your car?

It's likely to be 81C or 83C.

This is my car:
