2.0 JDM Hatch's are like rocking horse sh*t but they seem worry free in comparison.

You mite be able to get one with high mileage then get the internals forged and maybe new map.

If you want one then buy one and enjoy it , you know there have been issues with the 2.5 engine along with cars that have been trouble free so far. So IMO you pays your money and takes your chance. I like the hatch too and if I had the money I'd have one tomorrow but if it was me I'd save some more pennies and go for one that's been forged for 100% piece of mind.

One of the guys on here bought a hatch and dropped a forged 2.0 Newage engine in it.

Another option.

Get one with a forged engine from a reputable specialist. Provided you don't run high boost through a 2.5 block with forged internals things should be fine.

As with any of these cars, it does not matter what engine it has if the car has been abused or neglected.

I feel you may have to up your budget a little for the right car though. Forged hatches are rather desirable things!

I'd love a JDM hatch, the boot opening is a real positive to me. I've been living with my STI V6 saloon and it does annoy me compared to my wagon.

I wouldn't mind buying a hatch in the near future but jdm cars are practically non existent over here, even the one or two I've seen were £20k! I think the answer is to buy a UK one with a decent engine or one with a buggered engine and fit a 2.0L.
