I keep hearing (through here and other sources) that the EU import cars need an extra layer of sealant or rust proofing added to them in order to be equivalent to UK spec cars.

Ive had an EU car from Belgium since Mar 02 and do quite a few miles each month. Id appreciate some advise on this topic.

Cheers

Tim

It is true. Worth considering a spray with clear Waxoyl if you plan to keep the car for a few years.

Your car comes out of the factory with sealant that the rest of the EU deems suitable for use. The UK does put more on when they land at the docks - after they've spent months on a nice, salty ship

The sealant on mine (MY00 from Gertjan) has been checked and doesn't need any more at all

The UK cars need re-treating at the 12 month bodywork service so unless you think the car will rust away in the first year you may as well wait until then and get it done same as anybady else.
