Default Cam belt replacement. Just the belt or all of it?

What's the normal practice with these engines. Just replace the belt or the idlers and tensioners too?

UK turbo 1999 for the 90k cam belt service.

Thanks.

technically the only thing required is the t/belt with idlers/tensioners on an "inspection / replace if worn or damaged" basis

if you dont know if its had idlers or a tensioner before especially at 90k best to change it as its normally not the belt that fails but the tensioner loses its tension or just fails and makes the belt loose causing it to slip

its an idea the cost of timing belt kit plus water pump and if u do an oil pump might as well buy another engine when that one dies

"if its not broke dont fix"

Just do it all mate, theres no point scrimping on items like these. The belt kits are only 180 from import car parts and the waterpumps are about 40. You could always take the oil pump off and inspect it for wear while its all apart anyway and replace if necessary.
