Question JDM Bug owners; an interior mirror question

JDM Bug owners; an interior mirror question...

Does the mirror auto react and get darker when it senses bright light? Or are 2001/2002 JDM interior mirrors just bog standard mirrors?

I ask cos i've sat in two, and both cars had tints but one interior mirror seemed exceptionally dark. I wonder if it may have been a fancy darkening mirror that perhaps had stayed dark due to a fault

Wouldn't have thought they do because of the expense.

You need light sensors mounted on the mirrors and electronic circuitry inside the rear view mirror to control the current through a sealed backing plate to reduce the reflected light.

The ones in my E46 M3 do darken when sensing high light levels.

It's nothing special though, bit of a gimmick in my opinion.
