Question 05 JDM STI?

Are they really that good???

I'm looking to change my v5 STI and after doing some research on here people seem to point people that way.

I love my V5 but it's getting a bit long in the tooth. I can't really afford a JDM at the £9-10 mark but if it's really that much better than the UK version I'll hang on and save some more money.

On another note I really need a wagon (like my current car) but you can't get STI wagons and I think I'll be disappointed going back to a WRX.

Would like to know your thoughts guys.

Worth the extra money for the rear wiper lol seriously the extra,s make them a bit more worth it stronger engine, higher reving, close ratio box is a bit sore on motorways though but i love mine, still miss my classic ra so be carefull that you are doing the right thing, im at 440bhp and still feels clumbsy and too heavy

Ahh, don't say that! I'm not sure that getting rid of the classic is the right thing to do as I do love it.
You've given me food for thought, thanks

The chassis is much more capable than a classic! Of course they are heavier, but the widetrack STI's hide their weight extremely well.

I've had a uk classic (rb5 WR sport) and V2 JDM STI RA.
Currently have uk Wrx PPP and a JDM SPEC C hawk (TYPE RA).

I loved the rb5 but decided to get the spec c. Then last year while the spec c was in storage decided to go back to a classic and got the RA. The classic RA was great fun but the hawk Ra is in a different league. The classic was forgiving where the newage is just raw and needs driving hard to get the same sort of satisfaction.

I know the spec c Ra is not a run of the mill JDM, but I would always choose a newage JDM over a classic!

Sorry to bump this old thread but I've got a quick question and don't want to start a new thread.

Do they make Widetrack wagons? I'm looking at a 2005 PPP wagon and want to know if is a Widetrack like the saloon.

Cheers

No. The WRX comes in no widetrack form.

If like me you need the practicality of a wagon, you won't go far wrong with a PPP version. I have had mine almost 3 yrs and it's been great. I'm about to mod it to around 330bhp, but that's really only because I have a lot of the parts already and at nigh on 110k it needs money throwing at it so I may as well upgrade while i've got the engine out.

I wouldn't get too caught up on wide tracks, yes they are the best of the new ages but they come at a premium and most wouldn't notice the difference or use the dccd very much if at all.
