Default Scooby Sprint Championship / Final at ScoobyLive 2009

Right!

Sorry for the radio-silence - we've been busting our nuts trying to get this organised.. and we're finally here!

Check out the announcement info here :
Scooby Sprint Championship - The UK's Fastest Subarus

I'm seriously excited about the championship. The people involved have a combined direct WRC involvement of over 20 years!

And the clincher is.. we've managed to make it cheap as chips to enter!

We're getting all the final details sorted now, but I just wanted to get some information to you as soon as we knew it could all definitely happen.

Off the record (meaning, don't hold me to it until I've confirmed everything), and just for you guys here, the first event is looking like being towards the end of April, and the championship will run until the Final (for double points) at ScoobyLive 2009 - currently looking like September - which is great as we've been working really hard to get a decent date for ScoobyLive for a few years now.

Stay tuned. There won't be much time to register for the championship before the first event. So keep an eye on the forum, and also, stick your email address into the box at the bottom of the Scooby Sprint Championship - The UK's Fastest Subarus home page, and we'll email you as details are announced.

Cheers guys

Simon

Gentlemen!

I'll let you know asap.. We're definitely going to run at least 2 rounds at Elvington, but we currently have two other venues in mind, one of which is Santa Pod (to use an area which lends itself to a handling circuit)...

But I'm starting to think we might base them all at Elvington to keep it consistent.

At least for this year anyway.

I'm really sorry for that mis-information - I wasn't aware Chris had said that.

But yes, please ignore any previous dates - although of course, we may be running one of the rounds on the 24th.

I'll get the full calendar released in the next couple of days.

Mmmm, do P1 alcon brakes count as std for all scoobs or just the P1? If not there is a big advantage for P1 owners!

Could it be better to have brakes free as long as they fit under 17" wheels?

Are A/R bars free in all classes?
Which tyres are excluded?
Exhausts free?

ie how std is std?

172, the entire aim is to be as realistic, fair and practical as possible, enabling it to be fun.

In previous years, there have been no classes, meaning you just win or you don't.

P1s will have an advantage over other cars with their brakes. But other models will have advantages over the P1 like weight, DCCD, etc. That's part of the fun - seeing which cars overall package is fastest on the different layouts.

A/R bars are classed as a modification, BUT.. again, all of this will be conducted sensibly. If someone comes along with a totally standard 1993 UK car, but he's got an after market ARB on the back, we'll ignore it.

If, however, someone turns up in a Spec C with 650BHP, but standard suspension, standard brakes, and standard road tyres.. we won't leave them in the unmodified category.

I'm sure someone will bend the rules a bit, but we'll just deal with that as it happens. And if someone is a runaway success by a country mile in a class, we'll take more notice of the spec of the car.

Its all just good fun motorsport, without the need to put everyone through lengthy and expensive scrutineering and regulations.

kyb agx's but std springs
3" stainless
roll bars front and back

chip in std ecu

otherwise std really

Yours sounds pretty borderline, depending on the power output, which we can't check. But I would think it would be unfair to pit you against a standard 1995 UK Turbo, with no modifications at all, so in which case, I would suggest getting some good tyres and you should be pretty competitive in the modified class.

Bear in mind, that prior to these clasifications, you would be competing against the pro cars directly.

Its never easy to sort this sort of thing out, as some people will fall half way between. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any, but I think it will be pretty hot competition in the categories we have now.

One of the biggest things people tend to do at ScoobyLive, is work out who has fairly similar cars, and enjoy the competition between them.

As an extension of this, we're looking at allowing people to create their own sub-championships, and select whoever they like into their category.

Thats kind of my point, how many std cars are left?

Most by now have pretty much the "stage one mods"

For reference ill let you know the difference back to back against a P1 std bar a remap and 3" as i'm doing a trackday in a couple of weeks.
I suspect that mine and the P1 will be pretty equal.

But with your rules he would be in the std class and i would be in the one above!

My 2p on the best car to have would be the v3 ra, i dont think much will come close (in the std class)

my thoughts are standard should be completely standard cars, then at least two class of modded vehicles, something like cars running standard internals, standard turbo, ic in standard position, interior standard.no fuel addatives.. And a class for all others

a few question is a ppp equiped car considered standard ? does the suspension include standard drop links anti role bars , anti lift kits etc.

I have a feeling standard is going to be more like stage 1 modified.
